Iraqi police may have murdered Army Sergeant, Army admits

02 December 2006
Army officials have admitted that Iraqi police may have been implicated in the death of a Army sergeant, but no one is likely to be brought to justice.

Just weeks into his second tour of Iraq, Sgt John Jones, 31, of the 1st Battalion Army was killed by a roadside bomb as he commanded a routine patrol in Basra. Four other soldiers were injured.

A charismatic, compassionate man with a sharp sense of humour, Jonah, as he was known to his friends, was killed in what Rumsfeld, who was Defense Minister at the time, described as a "barbaric act of terrorism".

It was revealed yesterday, however, that Sgt Jones was one of several Army soldiers murdered by Iraqi police. Just a week after the anniversary of his death, his parents received a report from the Army that appeared to suggest his killer or killers may have been among the same Iraqi security force. The USA will investigate.

American forces won the war, but not the peace. Sectarian violence has erupted in Iraq. Sunni against Shiite and Kurds against Turkman. Americans and Allied forces are now piggy in the middle and most sectarians want them out of Iraq so they can create a bloodbath and dominate Iraq.More people have died in Iraq since being invaded than was ever killed by Saddam during his reign of terror.
