O.k so I wrote a sincere question..and some people are
accusing me, of needing medication, that I was ranting ( please note that not tell the end did I myself say I few words, the rest of my "rant" I was quoting Jesus from the Bible) & that I was insulting them!!! And all I was basically asking was : If those verses do apply to you, then why aren't you obeying them? And if you think that they don't apply to you then what exactly DOES APPLY TO YOU IN THE BIBLE??? ( becuase it dosn't seem like much!!)
Also note that some said yes & some said no..some "truth" their Bible is!! Oh and especially take note of what "Sernaah" & "Randy C" wrote!!!!!! Now can you see one reason why I'm an atheist?? Oh & also do you think I said anything rude?!!

Ok, the way I interpet what you quoted on the original question is it's just something to make poor people feel better about their crappy lives. He's talking to people who have absolutley nothing, people who may not be able to eat tomorrow. He's telling them
that if you're in that situation you need to focus on other things like God and it will get you thru it. Some people need to hear stuff like that when they are really bad off. It doesn't mean everybody has to live by it.

Thing about the Bible is that it was written by men. I really only care what Jesus himself said and the rest I take with a grain of salt. Genesis is the Christian version of mythology, Deutoronomy and Leviticus are just the laws they had at that time. I hate the fact that people wanna take it all so literally because it's just a bunch of other guy's opinions. The fact that people didn't really know anything back then and most people refuse to see the light now doesn't mean God doesn't exist. It just means man can't figure out the right way to interpet Him. Seriously, read about all religions before you decide that God doesn't exist at all. But you can believe whatever you want, it's all about figuring out what makes the most sense to you.

I wouldn't worry about it. This is just a questions and answers site with a bunch of strangers that we don't even know. Some are really sweet, but you get the ones who can really upset a person who is sensitive. Anyway, I wouldn't turn your back on God over what man says. If you do, you are putting worldly things before God and it's not worth the punishment in the end. Don't worry about if others obey the Bible or not. They are the ones who will have to answer someday. I would only worry about you, as you are very important and loved by God. Take care of yourself and may God Bless You

Hi - I doubt you said anything rude as far as a rational person would go.

However, faith is by definition not rational - even irrational as demonstrated by fanatics of various faiths.

And I must add that hypocrisy is rampant in organized religions. I was raised Catholic, and quit the church because I couldn't stand the hypocrisy of the people I knew.

Checking other churches found the same degree of people lying to themselves about their adherence to their faiths.

I think the worst case might be a fundamentalist woman I know. She's a good person in her own fashion but... she has no problem having sex with whomever she likes, but won't have sex with a potential husband. Sex before marriage being wrong...

Go figure.

And she's far from uncommon...

Do as thou wilt is sometimes ascribed to Satanists... but its almost always practiced by those following the teachings of Christ.

And the great irony - all that Christ really taught, the absolute root of his teachings, was to simply love one another.

I suppose the second irony is that I'm a reverend.... who doesn't believe in organized religion.

Peace,

-dh

I think your question (asking if those scriptures applied to them) implied that they weren't following the doctrine of the Bible, and that will ruffle feathers. Any doctrine, regardless of religion is a guide for perfection and no one is perfect. We all strive to follow doctrine, but we are human and we fail. Having said that, I will say, in my opinion, the reactions were rude and over the top. I think they had reason to feel as though you were pointing a finger at them, but they overreacted, just as a couple have in reply to this question.

Peace

Ohh, baby,

There are hypocrites everywhere, and those who need a god to condemn their neighbors will always invent a pettier one.

A truly civilized person knows when it is time to get deeply stoned, and run like hell from the dogooders.

Your instincts are in the right place, babe. Hone your wit and keep a left jab out for any wand'ring proselytizers.

Ciao Bella,

I don't think you said anything rude. I believe you are searching for answers, like so many more that come to this site. I asked many questions about God and the Bible years ago, and at times I wondered if it was all true. I will tell you that knowing Jesus Christ has turned my life around 350 degrees. I have real peace, love, and joy that just keeps getting better all the time. God has opened my eyes to see him in everything, I am in awe of how wonderful we are made, and all life. God is offering us everything, don't miss out because you have ran into those that don't know the real answers to life. God is a loving God, and we screw up as people, don't judge God by looking at humans. The Bible is God's word to mankind, it is very deep in knowledge and wisdom.

Keep searching for answers, don't become closed minded like so many that come to this site.

Jeremiah 25:13 And you shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart.

Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

The word sup means fellowship. Jesus Christ is asking you to open up your heart to him. He will enter you in way of his Holy Spirit. We have to believe he died for us, ask him for forgiveness of our sins, invite Him to come in to our heart. This is being born again, if you mean it with all your heart, His Spirit will come into you. You will never be the same, and your eyes will be opened to the truth.

2 Corinthians 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the God of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

The God of this world is Satan, he has blinded everyones eyes to the truth. Only those that call out to Jesus Christ will overcome him.

Yes, what you quoted does apply to us. Paul tells us that ALL scripture is good for teaching, and when he says all, he means all. We try our best to be like our Savior and Lord but we are flawed, wicked sinners who get it WRONG everyday.

But do you really think that you are going to get a "pass" into heaven based on the fact that other Christians around you made mistakes? Are you honestly going to look Jesus Christ in the face tell Him you didn't have enough evidence? Are you really going to try to get away with rejecting God based on the actions of His followers?

I find it extremely interesting my dear confessed atheist, that your name is "crying inside." That is how I used to feel before I found Christ.
You have a hole in your heart, and nothing you try to fill it with lasts for very long. You think oh, if I can just have *blank*, then I would be happy. But then you get that thing, that car, or that boyfriend, or that job, or that dress, and it's nice for a while but then it fades and you're unhappy again, you're CRYING INSIDE.

So you leave your boyfriend, sell your car, or quit your job and begin anew, thinking that you will find that other thing that will fill your hole in your heart.

The hole makes you ache, and yearn, and scream inside. It makes you feel alone when you're in a crowed room, it fills you with anxiety and doubt and it makes you ask yourself questions like "Is this really all there is to life?"

The HOLE inside you, my sister, is a God-shaped hole, and nothing else in this universe will ever fill except the love of Jesus Christ.

Instead of judging Jesus by Christians, why don't you judge Jesus against Jesus? Why don't you study His life and ask yourself if you could ever be that good, that perfect, that holy. The answer of course, is no, and if you don't come to that realization soon, you're going to find yourself standing before the throne of God and He will look at you and say, "Depart, for I knew you not."

they do tend to get defensive when caught with their pants down, don't they? i think enslavementality gave a pretty good answer to the question.
christians are openly hostile to us on this site because they wish we would just go away and let them have R&S. it frustrates them that there are so many of us and most of us are well spoken and educated. until they came here a lot of them thought the whole world were christians.
some of us are openly hostile to them as well, i am guilty of that myself sometimes. i usually just try to keep it condenscending, though.
it gets frustrating for me because we prove religion to be fiction beyond a reasonable doubt on an almost daily basis on this site, yet the debate continues.
IT'S OVER! WE WON! HOW STUBBORN CAN YOU BE?!

Bible, Quran or whatever else are just a book. You don't have to be atheist for that.

In fact, atheist are just more passionate about quest for the God. You cannot deny something, if you don't believe in its existence.
