Why? Are you worried about being shot by a sniper? If so i think i would relocate. However, good news for you snipers are instructed to destroy the heart first. The head is too easy to miss and destroying the heart also takes out the lungs and basically just screws you over pretty badly, aside from being shot.

In addition if you were shot in the head and lived, the loss of brain matter and associated activity will result in you not remembering it, the pain that is.

The simple answer is no.If you were to be shot be a trained sniper, you would be targeted for kill, not injure. The shot placement would most likely interrupt your brain functions from your central nervous system before the exit wound was complete. If ,however, you were shot by some guy with his own "sniper rifle" and without any formal traing-it's going to probably hurt like hell. That person will more than likely not be able to control his weapon and would probably miss rather than hit the intended targetThink former Press Secretary James Brady and you get the idea. And just an FYI,a 9mm round fired from a handgun doesn't travel any where near 5,000 feet per second.A +P+ round would be maxxed at closer to 4,000 and that creates enormous pressure on the firearm(very unsafe). And 25,000 fps from a .50BMG?Where do these guys find that stuff?

I saw that on the news today too, and you'd have to ask the dead guy, or the survivor of a flubbed attempt. Depends where the bullet hits. It takes 2 minates or more of oxygen deprevation for the brain to shut down. If the shot was a clean thru and missed vital areas of brain tissue then yes they may feel the pain. They may even survive if the shot is off by a couple inches. Most marksmen are more accurate than this so the scenario is unlikely but possible. Shock would also be a factor, it would possibly quell the pain entirely.
Probably no pain unless you survived.

A properly placed head shot will drop the target instantly, disrupting the brain to such a point that there's no relfex twitch. So no, in most casea s niper's head shot will kill instantly, no pain. And to the IDIOT Jimbob Davis, 9mm do NOT travel at 5000 fps, and the 50bmg doesn't go 25,000 fps, what a complete tool, try doing a little research about ballistics before you go making crap up and looking like a complete, uninformed moron. This is the internet, it's pretty easy to find ballistic info rather than just make absurd statistics up off the top of your pointy little head.

Depends on caliber and shot location. For example, a headshot on the temples with a low(er) caliber round, can simply puncture your frontal lobe and take your optical nerves with it, but keep you more or less alive for a while. I would imagine that would hurt like the dickins'.
Really would depend on a lot of factors, firearm and non-firearm related such as bone structure, angle of fire, velocity, how much brain matter got taken out, etc.
For what I've researched a massive brain wound would render you unconsious, basicaly instantly.
This is of course, without any first hand expierence (or second hand for that matter).

If that happened it wouldn't hurt at first because of shock but it sure as heck would hurt if you were still alive and awake an hour later. Sometimes when people get in car accidents they are in such a state of shock that the mind blanks out so they don't have to live the experience.

No, whenever anyone recieves a temendous amount of pain, they immediately go into a state of shock for a while, long enough for anyone to die of a head wound. This might only be a problem with lower caliber bullets that don't immediately sever the brain from its cortex.
