The most controversial verses in the Quran prior to its deletion by Muslim scholars (religious leaders) and is considered highly blasphemous by Muslims worldwide.

These verses relate to a portion of the Quran where Muhammad agrees to let a tribe (???) worship two (or three) other daughters of a moon God (???, note the importance of the moon cycle to the Muslim faith) in an attempt to broker peace.

However, it is the contention of Muslim scholars that these verses in the Quran were inspired by "Satan" and hence the term "Satanic Verses".

Oddly enough, a contention by others is that if three verses could have been inspired by Satan what is say that there aren't any other verses, or the whole Quran itself, that could have been inspired by Satan.

The fatwa was originally abandoned, but has been reinstated by the Imam Khomeini as a permanent fatwa on 02/14/2006.

For Muslims, it is more blasphemous than to suggest to a Jew that God could have Son, or to Christians that Jesus was married and had children.

I guess, Jews and Christians are highly unlikely to issue whatever might be the equivalent of a "fatwa" over someone who'd make / pass a blasphemous remark!

Side Note: The Muslim calendar being based on the moon cycles is probably the most accurate calender used by laymen and upped only by the atomic clock maintained by NASA and other scientific organizations.

That was a long time ago. I guess the reason was that he insulted the Koran and the religion of Islam. The so-called "Fatwa" was a very stupid act. In principle one can't kill everyone that disagree or plashemy your relgion. On another note, this Fatwa backfired and only served to make the writer world-known and his books to be read all over the world, maybe many folds what he ever dreamed.

ITS ABOUT A STORY FROM THE KORAN (SURA 53)

IT TALKS ABOUTS HOW MOHOMED WORSHIPPED THE DEVIL AND HOW MOST OF MOHOMED'S TEACHINGS WERE GUIDED BY THE DEVIL. MUSLIMS HATE THIS STORY IN THE KORAN AND DO THEIR BEST TO COVER IT ALL UP.

SALMAN RUSHDIE REVEALED THE TRUTH ABOUT THIS STORY. SO MUSLIMS HATE HIM
