It's got a burning feel to it and no it's not in the muscles, it's in the layer of fat just under the skin

Get that checked out right away. Weighing the list of issues that are a big deal vs. no big deal, you should be talking to your doc. Right away.

Herniation, appendicitis, abcess, could all be possible. Anything hot you should pay attention to. If its the lower left side near the waistline, it could be an appendix. That's nothing to ignore. I certainly do not wish to be an alarmist, but you describe acute symptoms that should be examined right away. Its worth the copay.

Have you been doing a lot of sit-ups lately? It could be muscle soreness.

It could also be heartburn, or an ulcer, besides a hernia.

Please go to a doctor to get it checked!
