I feel awful. I'm only 11, 12 on December 5th, and I feel like i have become faithless in the past 2 years. I am mad at my Grandma, because she is not Christian, and she keeps trying to prove darwin's theroy. I try SO hard to have faith, and I am a bit mad I ever tried to be smarter than average. Now, because I think about more things, I ask questions, and, I don't know. I just wish I could be faithful. Plz, tell me how to become more faithful. And DONT I repeat DO NOT post things trying to convince me of the opposite. I want advice on how to be more faithful, NOT faithless. My Dad said it was just doubts, and lots of ppl get them, but it's getting worse and worse. I pray EVERY night I can. Before I close my eyes at night, I picture an image of God and Jesus. If anything ever happened, i just want to be able to say I was thinking of something religious. Plz help. Remember, I'm only 11. Thanks :D

Thanks guys :)
Cuz I was raised Christian, and my parents weren't but they became religious. Thanks for praying for me :) I'll pray for you too. My Grandma will argue with my family members about it, and I'll jump in and defend them, and argue with her.

To begin with, stop trying to think "religiously." Religion is a set of dogmatic rules to follow, and Jesus Christ came to free us from that. Christianity is FREEDOM!
It is difficult to live in a house or have friends and loved ones who are not believers. To begin with, truly believe in the power of prayer and use it, pray for your grandmother every night.

Second, I'd recommend that you start working on memory verses. The Holy Spirit cannot put words in our mouths that we didn't already know, so start memorizing some good scripture verses and you will find that they surface exactly when you need them.

Third, study the Word, read, read, and read again.

Fourth, your grandmother is wrong about evolution, I want to you know that you are not alone. Darwin's theories are completely false and have borne only evil fruit in this world.

You will be in my prayers tonight, God bless you.

First of all I want to tell you that I think you are on the right way. You are just being tried at the moment. There is a very encouraging promise in the Word of God for you "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6) and unless you want to run away from God, no man shall pluck you out of his hand (see John 10:28). Why am I quoting so much from the Bible? Because I believe this is a way to increase faith, "So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17). Concerning the theory of evolution read also Romans 1:20-23. It might also interest you that Charles Darwin renounced his theory at the end of his life and became a Christian.

Here is what he said to a man called Dr. Oswald J. Smith, "I was a young man with unformed ideas. I threw out queries, suggestions, wondering all the time over everything; and to my astonishment, the ideas took like wildfire. People made a religion of them" "I have a summer house in the garden which holds about thirty people... Tomorrow afternoon I would like the servants on the place, some tenants and a few neighbours, to gather there. Will you speak to them?" Dr. Oswald J. Smith asked, "What shall I speak about?" Charles Darwin answered, "Jesus Christ and His salvation. Is not that the best theme?"

Your Dad is right, it is normal to be having doubts. It's something every Christian goes through. I'm so glad you know the truth and want to keep your faith. Start with daily Bible study and prayer, like you're doing. There are some great children's and young adult study Bibles out there with commentaries relevant to your life. Ask your Dad for one for Christmas, or to take you to a Christian bookstore so you can find one you like, if you don't have one already. Even if you have a regular Bible already, a study Bible can be a great help. Also, listening to Christian radio has done me a world of good. Praise and worship music and listening to teachers speak on the radio during the week helps me keep my spirit fed all week long. If you're not part of a church youth group, consider joining one. Summer church camps can be a great place to renew your spirit, as well. Know that I will pray for you, too! Knowing that others are praying for you is also a great source of strength.

The first thing I want to say is that Darwin's theory does not disprove God. I believe in evolution and I also believe in God. And so don't a lot of very knowledgeable Christian theologians and scientists. I found that out when I took a college course on Science & Religion. One of our textbooks was called "Can a Darwinian be a Christian" and the answer is yes. Two other of our books contained articles written by various scientists and theologians, and one of them was actually published by the Vatican and written mostly by devout Catholics, and the other was written by mostly evangelical Christians. So, one does not need to feel threatened by science.

I am a religious studies major. I have studied all kinds of scholarly works about the Bible and about all religions. And I can be quite skeptical. But I remain religious and devoted to God. Through my study and through thinking deeply, I've come to a place where I feel comfortable with my faith in God. I have a feeling that you will also be able to come to such a conclusion. But I did not always feel so comfortable. I had to go through a lot of mental struggling with my faith.

All that struggling turned out to be a good thing, I think. It has opened my mind and given me a bigger picture of God. Ask God to help you grow in faith and knowledge of Him. You are very bright, and you have a great future ahead, where you can really contribute great things to the world. I can tell by your question and by your concerns. All the best to you.

I think you should stop arguing with your grandma.

Rev chap 4
8: And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all round and within, and day and night they never cease to sing, "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!"

--- You really want to believe this crap for the rest of your life ?

Rev Chap 8
10: The third angel blew his trumpet, and a great star fell from heaven, blazing like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the fountains of water.

Rev Chapter 6
13: and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale;

---You know how big stars are right ?, the sun is a star.

"I want advice on how to be more faithful, NOT faithless."

Hon, you don't care about the truth, only the faith that makes you comfortable. While I understand that, and realize that losing faith is a scary experience, reality is reality.

I hope you know that the truth is not afraid of scrutiny, and I hope you grow to be open to looking for truth rather than just being satisfied with what makes you feel better. Have good, rational reasons for what you believe, or your faith will always be shaky - that I promise you.

Yes, believing in God is hard but if you pray everyday you will believe. Pray for your Grandmother.
Go to a church.
Hang out with your Christian friends.
Hey, I'm only 14 and it's really is hard to believe in the Almighty God.
As you mature, you believe in God more so don't worry.
I'll pray for you everyday and I hope you don't feel awful any more.

Well, it's kind of lousy that your family is dragging you into this debate. Just don't worry about it and let yourself be a kid -- you can sort it all out when you're grown-up. That's my advice.
