Ali, No question. He proved he could go against muscle time and time again. Add to that the fact that he was so quick. Tyson in his prime also had a good combination of speed and strength, but he has never had the endurance and patience in a fight that Ali had. . Tyson won the majority of his fights by knockout, so Ali would have worn him down eventually. Add to all of this, Ali had him by several inches, so Tyson would be at the disadvantage in reach, as well.

Ali wins, in convincing fashion. Tyson is no good against, big, confident fighters, i.e, Douglass, Holyfield, Lewis. All confident, all big, and all good boxers. I'm not not talking brawlers, reality tv wannabe's, or, great white hopes. Ali would embarrass Tyson. Ali had far superior, defense, hands, feet, and, a size. His jab alone would be too much for Tyson to contend with. Ali was not a little man, but, look at the Giant men he battled, ie, Foreman, Shavers, Norton. Ali was the total package.

In one match, too hard to say. In both their primes (Ali before he had his championship belt stripped from him & Tyson before his long time trainer died), Ali wins a best of 7 by 4-3. Ali b/c of his speed, reach, and technique over Tyson raw power and short hooks/uppercuts (Tyson would be by far the strongest opponent Ali has ever faced, even stronger than both Foreman and Frazier).

as much as i respect smittys opinion(he seems a very knowlegeable fella),this fight would be far tougher for ali than he thinks.its true tyson never faced anybody like ali,but at the same time ali never faced any body with tysons combination of speed and power either.fraizer gave ali hell three times and didnt have anything like tysons hand speed or ability to punch in combination.ali was floored by henry cooper,so tyson was definatly capable of hurting him.i belive ali would have won this fight but for six rounds it would have been as much as he could do to hold tyson off him.i dont belive ali hit hard enough to stop mike.but i think he would have out boxed him, though ali wouldnt have landed half the shots on tyson as he did on fraizer. tyson had superb upper body movement and underated defensive skills.therfore i say over twele rounds its ali on a split decsion but over fifteen ali gets it buy a wider margin.

Two times out of three, Ali wins.

This is why Ali would win two times out of three: Ali had amazing speed and accuracy, and was very difficult to hit in his youth. He was also a very patient fighter who would dance and jab away from his opponent for rounds, frustrating them, and then in later rounds would take advantage of his opponents fatigue and frustration with quick accurate flurries with surprising power. One out of his two victories against Tyson would have been by knockout, the other by a lopsided decision.

The reason why Tyson would win one out of three times is the following: Tyson was arguably the most ferocious puncher ever to lace up the gloves in his prime. He is also ignored as a student of the game, and in his youth had a surprisingly effective and underrated defense with his bobbing and weaving style (similar to a young Joe Frazier that gave Ali fits in their first fight). Ali in his prime stood about 6'2" and weighed 210-214 pounds. Tyson was 5'9" and 220-225 lbs, so was much more heavily muscled than Ali. The fighters that gave Tyson trouble like Douglas and Lewis were much bigger than Ali, and beat Tyson later in his career when Tyson's speed and defense had diminished. Tyson's victory over Ali, that 1 bout in 3, would be by a spectacular knockout in the mid rounds when Ali was slowing a bit and Tyson got inside his defenses to unleash one of his trademark hooks or uppercuts.

So, in sum, Ali wins two out of three, but Tyson sends him to the hospital one-third of the time.

Tyson would knock him out! Theres no question about it. Look at what happened when Tyson lost his first fight. His trainer and montor had just died. His cornermenr did not know whet they were doing. He went down hill from then on. Ali never faced anyone like Tyson.

Either you guys are just saying that to bash Tyson or you just don't have a clue. Ali wouldn't have lasted 3 rounds at best . Nobody before Tyson ever came out with that kind of speed and power and accuracy..ever..EVER...
