I'm not sure there is an "real" answer to this. Sometimes all it takes is a look or brush against the shoulder, a handshake or sigh. This is one of the mysterys of how men attract women or how women trap men. Take a chance is the only advice I can give in this situation.

You must talk with them on a regular basis. Ask them their likes and dislikes. Don't change yourself to try to impress them though. If you find you have things in common ask them if they want to go out. Most people are shy. And no one likes rejection. Ask for something simple like going for coffee or movie. And also know you can be attracted to the wrong person and not be at all compatible. Those can be worked around only if both parties are willing. Be honest to yourself and hang in there. You don't get anywhere without trying. Also believe in yourself. Sometimes people will give you clear signs. Sometimes they don't. Being up front is the best way to clear up misunderstandings.
