Don't do it beer at most can still be good after one year. Try it if you like, but I can guarantee it will not be good. It shouldn't kill you though

It won't kill you, the alcohol will kill the germs.
If it's in glass it's probably OK.
Alcohol does react with metal though, so if it's tinned it may taste odd, and you might have to put a 'top' of something in it (lemonade etc) to make it drinkable.
I would finish one if offered, and could put a 'top' in after a sip. I may even help you drink the lot. But I'd have to taste it first (and see the brand). Because likely as not the only reason it's 3 yrs old is that some cheapskate brought cr*p beer to your party.

Open a bottle if is flat it is probably vinegary, not nice. Try a tiny bit and then decide.
If it is fizzy go for it. I know people say beer only lasts a year, but I took a year old bottle of my own beer along to a competition to see what they would say (I liked it!). It came thirdso you may be onto something good!
WOW! A whole case!

you should try it and see but labbatts and molson brewery say beer starts to go bad after 3 months thats why bars have to rotate there stock all the time also it will turn faster if it was sitting on a cement floor but i have drank beer that sat in the fridge for over a year and it was fine so just try it if it tastes skunky its turned and is no good unless you want a major tummy ake

Drink. Providing the air hasn't got in the bottle.
Beer is alchololic and the alcohol kills all the bacteria that harm us. You may find that it is verry bitter if it is a cheap beer because it will have been bottled before it stopped fermenting.

I'm guessing that as you asked this question 4 days ago you have probably made a decision. The worrying part is that you haven't picked a best answer, does that mean that you tried it and ended up in the big pub in the sky? I hope it wasn't too painful for you x

I would pass even if I liked beer!
Where I used to work they sold off a load of newcastle brown cheap because it was out of date and everyone who drank it got sick. I wouldn't risk it.
