I am a 37 yr old woman whom just had back surgery. My doctor is waiting for my reply about what pain med I would like to use. I need personal experiences and thoughts about these two. Hydrocodone or Zydone. Which is stronger and more effective... etc....

No website links please, I've already looked. I just need personal insight.

I've had less nausea with oxycodone than hydrocodone, and oxy is more potent. Go for that. Trust me. Or darvon, if he'll give it.

The only difference is that Zydone is a capsule containing Hydrocodone 5mg and Acetaminophen 500mg(Tylenol extra strength) Hydocodone is the generic of Vicodan, Lortab, and of course all of their extra strengths. Plain Hydrocodone is not available so he's probably offering Vicodin , (hydrocodone 5mg/acetaminophen 500mg) or generic Hydrocodone 5mg/acetaminophen 500mg. Okay back to the difference the Zydone is a capsule and all the others are pills. Depending on your need for easy to swallow medication, the capsule will be easier....the combination in either form is a good pain reliever. Take with some kind of food to prevent nausea, and be aware that after a couple of days can cause constipation.....Hope you recover quickly....Remember walking is the best therapy post back surgery......Get well soon......

Hydrocodone is easier on the stomach than Vicoden. Vicoden contains aspirin and hydrocodone contains acetaminophen or Tylenol.

If you have no stomach problems or circulatory problems... You are fine with either but if the surgery had to do with a wound... Vicoden will cause it to bleed worse and possibly take a little longer to heal. Aspirin is a blood thinner.

Hope that you feel better soon! Happy Holidays!

Get yourself a little bell and ring it until they all want to strangle you with it! lol...

ZYDONE IS HYDROCODONE WITH ASPIRIN, SO YOU ARE GETTING A LITTLE MORE RELIEF WITH ZYDONE, IF YOU CAN TAKE ASPIRIN
