My blank CDs are the older 650MB kind and the Ubuntu Desktop ISO image is like 716MB. It's cool that they got the essentials down so small. But I'd like to get going on this without buying new CDs. Anyone know of where you can get the image broken into two CDs rather than one fat one? Thanks.

Ubuntu sends out CD sets free. But to answer your question: because you're asking that question, to do so (I suspect) would be outside of your current skill set. Spend the $0.50 USD and buy a larger CD off a buddy.

Maybe you should use a pen drive (USB Flash Drive). You can also order free Ubuntu CDs.
Go to this link, create a new account and then order the free CDs. They will send it to you within 10-15 weeks. :-)

if you have a local sam goody, radio shack, or jsut about any consumer electronics store. they sell a 3 pack of blank CDs (700meg) for under 5 bucks.
as for your question. i dont think you can, sorry. nice to see some other interest in Ubuntu!

it's quite tricky. you'd have to slice it and dice it. you can try editing the contents to get rid of files that you might not need but you'll have to know what you're doing to do this.
you can also order ubuntu for free and they'll send it to you.

Just burn it to DVD. It can handle alot more data than 700mb. I put alot on DL/DVD 8.5gb per disc. "PEACE"
