okay, is your cultural history something that has a tradition in tribal tattoos? (maori, sudanese, congolese, samoan) if not, don't get a tribal tattoo. they were such a huge fad in the nineties and i don't understand why people are still getting them. get a tattoo that means something to you. or something that you find beautiful but don't just get a tribal tattoo to have one. it really is the worst reason to have one.
go to a custom tattoo artist and get an awesome tattoo that you can be proud to have. get a tattoo that is so awesome that people will stop you on the street to tell you how beautiful you tattoo is. that is just my suggestion. take it or leave it. good luck!

i agree with ^^^^ try not to get a trendy tribal tattoo. Those after a few years wont look as hot (unless you are from an actual tribe which i know you arent). Get something with meaning to you. Look around a lot, go to different tattoo shops and look at what they have, so you can get a general idea of something that calls to you each time you visit a shop, there will always be one kind of tattoo that will stay in your mind, and thats the one you most likely should get. If not, maybe it will give you an idea of one you can think of on your own, your own design would be even hotter

I have a tattoo that is called an enigma...
I got it from a picture on a deck of creative cards...
It looks like a Black Swan when you look at it from the right and a question mark when you look at it from the left.
I feel that it defines me spiritually and mentally, but in a physical way. It is like transcendence from one form of life to another...
I love it it is my favorite piece.
Find something you feel defines you that is more a representation of an inner condition (that you don't forsee changing any time soon) like a part of your psyche... (Not the lord of the rings or your favorite band.)
That is after all what tribal tat's are meant to represent.

Are you part of a tribe?
Because if not, then why are you getting a "tribal" tattoo?
I hope you aren't just getting a bunch of tribal designs because you think they "look cool."
You can be a little more original than that.

If you are asking others via the internet maybe you should hold off on getting a tattoo until you know what you really want.

I would beg you to please NOT get something trendy, as in 5, 10 or 15 years down the road you will regret it.
Why not design your own tat, that's what I did, and that way you can make sure you have an original design that is something you can live with for the rest of your life.

You could do web searches for designs or check at your local shops to see if the artists have any material they can show you.
There are also a number of Tattoo magazines out there, you could check your local newsstand or bookstore to see if they carry any you can look at.

Best suggestion I can give is get a Hep B vaccine before it. Then get them to break open a new needle in front of you. Or for the rest of your life any time you get a rash or cold you'll wonder.
