You should not deep fry chicken fried (aka country fried) steak. You would use the pounded (tenderized) top round which is pretty tough meat, bread it like chicken whith seasoned flour. and to do it right, cook on low heat, very slowly! It is not a dinner that is best when cooked fast. It's possible, but not recommended. You could use a thinly cut filet mignon and do it fast. You want to use a steak that is lean.
A suggestion,
Pat's Pork Chops
Thin cut or not, boneless pork chops
season both sides with curry, garlic and pepper
fry in olive oil,
add about 1 cup apple cider after you put the chops in. pour it gently on the sides of the chops so you don't spash off the seasoning.
turn when the bottom is golden brown
brown the other side.
The apple cider and curry go wonderful together and make a kind of glaze. You could substitute apple juice or apple sauce.

Cook hamburger with onion.
Boil elbow macaroni.
While they are cooking butter bread and sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
Cut bread into 1 to 2 inch rectangles.
Mix together burger and macaroni with one can mushroom soup.
Top with bread Bake 30 minutes at 350 F.

Chicken fried steak shouldn't be deep fried.
It's just fried with a little bit more oil than usual.
Fry as usual, while frying pour a couple of teaspoons of oil around the steak. It'll cook fine.

Here is a recipe for a country fried steak cooked in a skillet

COUNTRY-FRIED STEAK

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
4 beef cube steaks (each 5-oz.)
2 eggs
2/3 cup milk
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups saltine cracker crumbs
1/4 cup vegetable oil
(GRAVY):
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 3/4 cups milk
1/4 cup minced onion
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper

In a medium mixing bowl, beat eggs and 2/3 cup milk. Whisk in 3/4 cup
flour and 1 teaspoon salt. Pour cracker crumbs into a soup plate or pie
pan. Dip steaks first into the egg mixture and then into the cracker
crumbs. Press crumbs into steaks. In a 12-inch skillet over medium-low
heat, heat 2 tablespoons oil. Place prepared steaks in the heated
skillet, and fry for 6 minutes on one side. Add the remaining two
tablespoons oil, and fry 6 minutes on the other side. Remove steaks from
pan.
Prepare gravy: Stir 1/4 cup flour into drippings in the skillet. Add
enough oil to wet the flour. Stir flour and oil until fully mixed; a bit
at a time, whisk in milk, and deglaze the pan. Add onions, and after the
milk comes to a boil, cook 1 minute longer. Stir in salt and pepper.
Return steaks to pan, and cook another 20 minutes over very low heat.
When turning steaks or moving them to the platter, slide a large spatula
under the steak so as not to tear off the now moist batter. Spoon gravy
over steaks, and serve.
Makes 4 servings.

"Chicken-Fried Steak" - 6 servings

1 1/2 lbs. beef top round steak, cut 1/2" thick
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/4 cup salad oil
2 cups milk or light cream
Mashed potatoes

1) Trim and discard any excess fat from steak; cut steak into 6 portions, removing bone if present. In small bowl, combine flour, salt and pepper; reserve 1/4 cup flour mixture. On cutting board with meat mallet, pound remaining 1/2 cup of flour mixture into both sides of each steak until flour is absorbed and meat is 1/8" thick.
2) In 10" skillet over medium heat, in hot oil, cook steaks about 10 minutes or until well browned on both sides, turning once. Remove steaks to platter; keep warm.
3) Add reserved flour mixture to drippings, stirring together until smooth. Gradually stir in milk; cook until mixture boils, stirring constantly. Spoon some of gravy over steaks; serve remaining gravy with mashed potatoes.

green bean casserole.

And 1 we love esp when its cold out, but looks like crap, but oooooooooo so good, is called Easy Mushroom steak.

take 2 pounds of round steak, dosnt matter if its frozen or thawed.
But ina crok pot, with about 4-5 cans of cream of mushroom soup, salt & pepper to taste. If the meat IS thawed out, at about 1/4 cup of water to the bottom of the crockpot, if the meat is frozen no need to do this. Cook on low in crock pot all night, when you eat it the next day, the meat is so tender, it melts in your mouth, the cream of mushroom soup takes on a beffy flavor of the meat. You have your meat, make some potatoes, & veggie, sometimes I make a type of dinner roll to go with it too, or biscuts too. Its pretty popular here on our end.

Stir fries are dead easy, small pieces of meat cooked in a deep pan & add thin strips of any vegies you like. Go thru your cupboard & add sauces, my fave is honey and soy sauce & don't forget the garlic! Serve with rice, or add some noodles to the pan, any noodles will do. Another alternative to deep frying is oven baking, and it's a heap healthier too.
