since you mentioned that you like the disipline that Jet Li has learned then you'll want to see if there is a school that teaches Wushu in your area.

Wushu is a discipline of Kung Fu (the Chinese fighting arts as they are collectively known).

if there isn't a Wushu school near you then just check out a few of the other schools near you to find out what discipline they study and take some trial classes to see if you like the school. If you do then start studying the discipline.

THERE IS NO "BETTER" MARTIAL ART THAT IS BETTER THAN ANOTHER.

only better fighters, those who train to perfect their techniques and keep testing themselves to improve upon their techniques.

as for how much you'll pay: it varies from school to school, just don't let them have you sign a contract, especially if it's a 6 month contract or more, or if they promise you a black belt in a years time, or how soon you'll become a black belt.

Well, Jet Li studied Wushu. But you should do what you feel like you want to do. Tae kwon do has emphasis on high spinning flashy kicks. Karate has high impact punches and kicks. It depends on what you want to do. Also, if you want to be a "better fighter" than your uncle, it's not the style, it's practice and hard work. Jet Li studied Wushu and puts a lot of aspects of other martial arts in his films. Also, off on a tangent, check this site out, www.trickstutorials.com. This is a spinoff of martial arts, that involves flips and tricks. FUN STUFF LOL!

dont fall for the TKD nut riders, they cant help the brainwash. find an art that suits your body type and goals. if you want to have the best chance in a fight, dont rely on the TKD basics, but look into adding elbows and knees into the mix, and grappling too. you wont be a great fighter by just kicking and punching.

TKD...yikes, you people have been brainwashed, get out of your comfort zone, and learn to use the other body parts. if an art doesnt use the entire structure of the human body, or if they dont attack all the weak spots on the human body, then how can they be an optimal art? definitely not a martial science of any reliability.

to the questioner, its best if you follow your personal needs, and at least cross train in a few different styles to get a better 'all round' training philosophy happening. dont rely on just one art to make you the best fighter, or you fall.

Take as many different classes as you can. Do not limit yourself to only one style. If you can take: boxing,Tae Kwon Do, jujitsu, and some Chinese styles as well as Muy Tai. If you can take all of these you should be able to become a very good martial artist.

1) You won't find a better art than Tae Kwon Do.
2) Jet Li does a chinese style, I don't know which 1.
3) It is the artist not the art. Even if you study the same style, chances are you won't ever be that good.

HEY NONE BETTER THAN WING CHUN-------THE ART WHICH THE WORLD'S GREATEST MARTIAL ARTIST----BRUCE LEE LEARNT WHEN HE WAS A CHILD-6YRS OLD

BETTER LEARN THAT----NOT JUST BECAUSE BRUCE LEE LEARNT IT , BUT BECAUSE ITS THE FASTEST FORM OF DEFENCE AND OFFENCE THE CHINESE MARTIAL ARTS OFFERS U

ALSO U GET TO USE MANY WEAPONS,MANY THINGS FAMOUS,LIKE BRUCE LEE'S "ONE INCH PUNCH"

I THINK U SHOULD GO AND HAVE A LOOK AT THIS LINK:

http://www.wingchun.com/JKD.html

ALSO I THINK ITS NOT JUST THE TYPE WHICH MATTERS IN MARTIAL ARTS----BUT THE EXPERIENCE AND HOW MUCH U HAV PRACTICED

IF U WANT TO GO FOR SOMETHING OLD AND TRADITIONAL AND WHO'S LEARNING PROCESS IS LONG------->GO FOR TAI CHI----THE ROOT OF ALL-----FROM WHICH EVERY FORM TOOK ITS IDENTITY--IT MEANS THE FORM OF NATURE-->THE MOST ANCIENT.

ACTUALLY ,AGAIN,I'M FASCINATED BY THAT BECAUSE BRUCE LEE'S FATHER LEARNT IT,AND IF UR A BRUCE LEE'S FAN,THAN CHECK HIS BIOGRAPHY HERE :

http://www.bruceleecentral.com/bruceleebiography1.htm

AND THAN DECIDE URSELF---THE CHOICE IS URS TO BE MADE
