Really, Why do a lot of the people ask questions about Atheists, Muslims Hindus, Christians, and Pagan when they really just want to hear some other people who agree with them say something based in total ignorance?

If you really don't want to know, why ask? If you are not truly trying to futher your knowledge, why ask?

And while I'm at it, why do people jump at the bait of the stupid questions? Let the stupid questions rattle around like a bb in a tin can with no response I say!

I see questions asked about why are people mean in here. I have answers to that question, most of them are rude.

Ok, I'm done ranting now

I would like a mature answer to the question I asked though.

Ah, the loaded questions from those who want to make a statement; so they put their statement in the form of a question.

The basic psychology of that is: When you are unsure about something, keep saying it (rotely, or blindly) until you believe it yourself.

The classical clinical proof of this was conducted at the University of California; (Berkeley)

They interviewed several Gay Bashers in the 1970s. Then they re-interviewed them in the 1990s and found that a whopping 80% of them had discovered something about themselves, they had discovered that they themselves were homosexuals.

Shakespeare said it best, "I thinketh that thee protest too much".

Hello. I say that those who know that they'd get a stupid answer will in deed ask that person and if the question is so stupid then the person should not answer it but a intelegent person would answer it with a stupid answer siply because that person was stupid for asking it. Remeber Stupid is as Stupid does. I'd also like to add that when you ask a question some people may like the fact that we are stupid enough to answer the question just to get a response and last but not least why did y ask a stupid question like this when you already know the answer. And the greatest last of all is I answered you question because I can do that. Smile baby have a wonderful Christmas Holiday. There are some links for all of your now before and future questions at your request you aks for it and now you got it.

It may look like i myself am a culprit of this sort of action. I do ask lots of questions about biblical scripture and Christianity and the goal is simply to attempt to have a believer answer with a statement that is well thought out, logically consistent and evidence based. In most cases the believers either fail to deliver or do a far worse job in fielding the question than i had expected in which case i award the best answer to an atheist or agnostic that does the best job.

Every time i ask a question like this i really want to give the best answer to a believer, however, if the question is not the best answer it will not be lauded as such.

If the chosen best answer doesn't work for you the others are archived along with the question... why not read them all and see if something else meets your expectations... that's all you can really ask for.

Internet trolls. ;o) I'm with you on the answering of the stupid and sometimes rediculous questions and how people jump all over it. I'm not talking about the intentionally goofy questions, which are cute sometimes. But the rhetorical questions? LOL The people asking questions to either try and sound smart or just so they can get alot of agreement from one side or the other. *shrug* I don't know.

They want a "bandwagon". Some people are unsure of themselves...so they seek others that agree, so it can seem "that" much more true. And some ask questions...that are really opinions, and need no answer at all. IGNORANCE...IS BLISS for some people!

In reality the question is :

Why do people answer questions when they don't really give truthful answers?

You are right, sometimes the question is a preaching rather than a question. but I see no harm in this. the harm is from the people who answer and mislead others.

I think it has to do with the social aspect of human nature, they have to believe they are not alone in there beliefs. To prove that they ask knowing that some will smooth their feathers by stating they also believe the same, for the other person has just been told they themselves are not alone in their beliefs.

hope that made sense to you
