is limewire safe for downloading. does it harm the computer?

I don't know where all these people get the information that LimeWire is unsafe, The fact is it is more safe than some of the pay per song sites that I have downloaded from. Just pay the $18.00 for Pro after you download the free version. I have been using Lime for along time, and before that I used Audio Galaxy. They got hit with a suit and a shutdown order. Well gotta go and don't forget to scan everything you download off the net. "PEACE"

Limewire is safe ive used it for years and havnt hada single problem. as long as your carefull what u download you should be fine.

your more at risk by simple having your computer connected to the internet.

also limewire pro is said to be spyware although it only spys on your use of limewire.

NO its not safe Yes it will screw up your system, this is how: It makes another route for virus's, Trojan horses and spyware to enter into your computer, and the worst part about it is that you invite them in. Buyer beware, I have had my compute hijacked with the best of anti virus software because my son disguised limewire or Morpheus.

Limewire is safe to download persay.. but when you use it there are high chances of getting infected with spy or adware. I use Shareaza free of Viruses, spyware, adware you name it easy to use and free. compare limewire to Shareaza before downloading limewire. Important because limewire is like a virus when you try to delete it because it downloads itself into several places on your comp. Then it is very hard to get rid of. so just check out Shareaza:

limewire is just a p2p file sharing program
it does not install spyware/adware like bearshare
the term "safe" is reletive while useing p2p programs
limewire is mostly for music which is illegal to dl in this fashion
while it is fairly difficult to be caught useing it there have been some people caught with limewire.
just look what happened to kazaa, or winmx. those networks got shutdown so its not exactly safe but its decently secure

Limewire is safe but it costs money. In my opinion download Ares ( just search Ares on Yahoo Search) and make sure you get it for free because it is meant to be free. Then just type in your song in the search tab and double click on the version you want.

File sharing has got a bad reputation. But I must appreciate Limeware for striving to make it safe. Still, make sure you have good security on your computer(an anti-virus, 1 or 2 anti-spyware and a firewall) before using p2p. :-)
