True prophets make known their faith in Jesus, but more is required than claiming to preach in his name

You test their fruits. If what they say is confirmed in the Word of God then their fruit is good. If not, get away from them.
By Prophets you mean people that want to teach the Word of God?
As you may already know, the last Prophet was the Son of God.><>

Although true prophecies are a sign of a true prophet, this should not be seen as a conclusive test. Many people accurately predict events, some by chance, some by making educated guesses. Pro ball players routinely guarantee winning a certain game. When this occurs as predicted, are they to be considered as true prophets?

Some times even true prophets make false predictions, especially if they use their own intuition instead of God's. This can be seen when Paul predicted that all those going on the boat to Rome would die in the storm. An angel later corrected him and told him that only the boat would be lost, no lives.

The true prophet of God will preach Christ and Him crucified, call the church to repentance and obedience to the law of God, uplift and encourage the church, be known by their fruits. Not all prophets make predictions.
In the NT, prophecy was subject to interpretation by church review.

True prophets are known by their ability to predict future events which could not be naturally known. Only God knows the future, therefore if a prophet predicts something will come to pass "exactly" as he says it will, then that man is a prophet of God. Some people exercise "psychic" gifts and predict things "partially". This is not a prophet.

What you say is not true, because there were prophets before Jesus. I remember reading that prophets can only be known if their prophecies come true.

true prophets ask for nothing in return, and don't expect you to change because they ask you to. Neither do they say to kill all who don't convert. A true prophet would not make any demands of anyone.

Read and understand the Bible. It will essentially tell you how...

Seek and you shall find. Open your eyes and you shall see. Listen and you shall hear. Knock and the door shall be opened for you.

Peace be with you.
