Ive been dating a guy but tonight he made a really rude joke.
I was telling him how my sister in law who is a Russian Jew (just like me too) is starting to age fast and she's only 30.
He thne said point blank "well everyone knows Jews and Russians both age fast and fall apart as they get faster than everyone else"
I was furious at him and retorted that since he's Irish why isnt he an alcoholic ?
He told me to relax it was a joke and other people say the same thing.
Is he a racist for saying this ? I have never ever heard anyone say that us Russians or Jews age faster. I am so angry. I think Ill break up with his lame self.

Sounds like ignorant racism to me...
like he's heard it so long he now repeats it as "fact",
and then when he found you were upset, tried to write
it off as a "joke".
With people like that, I try to enlighten them about
what racism really is, why racist jokes are never ok,
and the like... if they don't seem to be learning after
a while, I quit and walk away.
If you feel connected with him, you might want to
try to reform him... but do it for him, and because it's
right, not for the sake of making a relationship "work".

Nah, not really racist persay. Sometimes genetically, greek people and russian people physically age faster in the face and body than I dunno, someone not? It's genetic. He coulda been crackin at racism, but he didn't say something about kosher crackers and stuff like big noses, now THAT'S insult. Yeah, he was probably TRYING to be a jerk, but that's just what guys too. Seriously. Cut him some slack. He's a GUY. He's TRYING to upset you. And it's working, so dont let it happen again.

I honestly dont feel he meant any harm by it, i saw it as a joke, but its your choice, there are certain situations where this could be the begining of a "BAD" relationship, with plenty of racial slurs, but at the same time it couldve been a harmless joke made by a guy with a bad sense of humor, relax a lil & think this thing through before you make any rash decisions ok?? good luck..

He made a stereotypical racist remark. It doesn't mean he's a racist. At least he had enough sense to apologize. However, he didn't understand the harm that it does to repeat these kind of remarks. Set him straight about what bad taste and inappropriate behavior it is to stereotype people in this manner.

He was making a joke.
You seem to be the selfish one. Does the world have to revolve around you? YOUR the one who said she's aging fast, so he's just making a joke out of it. If I was a guy, I would NOT want you as a girlfriend. I would be afraid to talk.

take it easy. look for other signs of him being a jerk before you break up with him. if he was really a racist and had a problem with russians or jews, he wouldn't be dating you. give him the benefit of the doubt that he messed up and was joking.

She does not sound notably racist, however the assumption itself of her no longer liking mexican populated places or jews is racist. additionally, there is plenty race on your description that it form of feels like there is too an excellent number of a concentration on it. basically like human beings for who they are (character, morals) no longer their background. No i don't think so, just a rude bum, plus Russians are white, so are a good number of Jews, and i take it your bf is white. So i doubt he's a racist.

no not racist as most Jews and Russians are Caucasian and I'm guessing so is your boyfriend . I think your mixing up different cultures (ie jews and russians with) different racial types.
