Normally the flight takes 26 hours with a stop over (seems Shannon, Ireland is a popular refuel spot, but the military uses several). Thanks for your and his service.

I Salute both you and your Hubbie
It is 6 hours out of Kuwait to Europe.
It is 9 hours out of Europe to the USA
It is 6 hours out of the East Coast to Texas
Each stopover in-between adds 2-3 hours at most for refuel and refit and crew changeover.
He'll be able to call you from each location.
The local VFW's normally are waiting with free cellphones for your husbands unit to use to call you. We were greeted at 2am by over 45 people in Maine when we passed through in July.
I was greeted again a month later as I left to come back over here

When we flew back from Saudi in 2001, we stopped in Siganella, Italy (but I think we dropped off passengers there), and a refuel stop at Ramstein AB in Germany. In all the trip took 32 hours. But that was getting us to Cherry Point, NC

It all depends upon where he stops and for how long. It took my BIL about 25 hours, but he stopped in Germany and also had to "detox" for awhile before he actually came home. The Army wanted him to be a little more out of "war mode" before he came home for good.
Be patient. He will be home soon. And don't be discouraged if it takes him awhile to get back into the swing of things...deployment is hard on everyone.

If he can't tell you something, it's for a reason - protection of him and his buddies. Accept that and wait.
