From what I understand, Saudi Arabia has quite a few places the military men/women can buy their necessities. So I will only be able to give you an idea of what the requests were for from a young man that just got back from Afganistan.
1. Deoderent
2. Toilet paper
3. Toothpaste
4. Shaving cream (power form)
5. Chewing gum
I hope that helps. Of course, we also sent him a ton of junk food goodies too.

any snacks that he likes that shouldn't get too busted up in transit like cookies, gum, beef jerky, slim jims and such. pics of you, family and whatnot. books he can read to keep him busy in spare time. a pack of cards is always good. depending on what already set up over there and all that, dvds that he can watch, computer games if he has a laptop that he can take with him. if he's into art, u can send him a sketch book and art pencils to sketch with. disposable cameras that he can use to take pics with and when he gets back he can get developed if he doesn't already have a camera. that's all the sort of stuff i sent my hubby when he went to iraq. depends on the things he likes, send it to him if u can. good luck to him!

since I've I've been over there a time or two in my 26 years of naval service I have a couple ideas that you don't hear very often.....
a home town newspaper once in awhile
a package of pens now and then, use black ink
a bag of hard candy, it doesn't spoil, easy to carry, and is always a ice breaker with local kids
AA and AAA batteries since they are at times hard to get there
a cassette tape of you once in awhile
a writing tablet and extra envelopes
a paperback book of his favorite topic or author, easy to stick in the cargo pocket and really helps during those times of "hurry up and wait"
