Trace around the locket, then cut just barely INSIDE the line...that should provide a nice fit ...Good Luck!

I like Stephen's suggestion to cut out a template from plain paper first. Some lockets actually come with a plastic template that you place over the picture for use as a cutting guide.

You may want to cut out a waste area to try to fit that in first, just so you find out what it is like to work with the photographic paper. You don't want to end up creasing the picture you are putting into the locket.

I agree, its best to trace around your locket in order to get a nice fit.

My grandmother always would trace the locket on paper first, and cut out trial pieces to see which size and shape fits best, then she would use the best fit piece as a template to cut the photo. You never ever want to just trace and cut your photo, you will almost always ruin the photo. You might want to have a copy of the photo your using before cutting as well.
