The people I know who have Parkinson's have first dealt with muscle tremors, then muscle rigidity. They both seem to come close together so I am not sure which comes first.

Hi vd673 - Parkinson's is a malfunction of the motor system and is associated with essential tremors, stiffness, problems with mobility/ambulation and balance. One of my favorite patients is diagnosed with Parkinson's, and his present problem is one of balance or standing for extended periods of time. He moves along, hardly leaning at all on his walker (for extra security) and has not developed any obvious tremors. One of the physical dangers of Parkinson's are falls. My patient is 82 and was diagnosed with Parkinson's about 4 years ago. He is a brilliant illustrator and he retains his artistic skills. Parkinson's is a progressive muscular disorder, but not everyone so diagnosed has every symptom, nor do they deteriorate at the same rate.
