of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That said, in my opinion a good painting should be thought provoking, and/or have that "getting drawn into" it quality, it should have pleasing colors & textures & subject matter. It should cause the casual passer-by to pause and look at it & then look at it some more. It would have an intrigue to it time after time.
How's that?

Good or Bad is subjective. I would shy away from trying to label paintings or any works of art in that way. You could say it does or doesn't appeal to you. You could also talk about what feelings or thoughts it evokes within you. You could even add a comment as to why you would or would not buy it if you had the chance or what your wife or girl friend thinks about it.
You might also consider a 'guest host' comment for each. Show a random person in your life the painting and get their comments on it to offer some contrast to your own. Your guests could be the same or you could switch them out on a regular basis.
Good Luck with your Blog!

Yes, it is possible to judge a painting.
All art criticism is based on personal opinion. An art critic may be a 5-year-old child, or an art historian that is able to place an artwork in context and in a place in the history of art. However, the initial reaction to a painting is always "Do I like it or not?" The difference between good and bad criticism is the ability to support your opinion and how well you can communicate your opinion.

Yes it is. Some things to consider when judging a piece of art are
1) what does the do for you? Does it speak to you in any way? Does it evoke any emotions?
2) Pattern recognition. What is it?
3) Novelty. How is it different from other works. Does it keep your attention or make you curious?

I'm a simple creature, when it comes to painting. If I like to look at it - it's good. If I don't like to look at it - it's not so good. If many people have the same feeling about a particular painting - then that's what makes it good or bad.

This would depend on so many things, like what was the artist attempting to portray and were they succesful; did they follow the general guidelines of the particular discipline in which they work or if they did not was this to good effect; etc, etc, etc.
Most importantly of all, to me, is simply: Does the piece move me?

Good or bad is in the eye of the beholder, although if you are talking about technical skill, some artists are much more advanced than others.

no. You see we all dwell in our own corresponding dimensions. We live in the world of our minds. Our lie inside and when a certain spirit or idea that is floating as well is able to communicate, it forms a good reaction

Art is just one of those things that you can only base on opinion. You might think a painting is awful, and I might love it.. there's just no way to judge it logically.

I feel that art is subjective. Obviously to one person it may be beautiful and to another it may be dull. We're all entitled to our opinions. Maybe you favor certain styles or artists. Judging a piece of art is up to the person who is judging it...I'm a bit redundant, huh?
