I live in New Jersey and have been offered a job in Texas. I really want to go there so that I can start over with my life b/c everyone I know here thinks I'm a loser and they look down on me. The only thing that's keeping me from going is the fear that the people I meet there won't like me either. Should I go or not? Before I go, what do I need to do with myself? Change how I look? Change my personality?

You don't need to change nothing about you unless you have a nasty habit like misjudging people you don't even know. And umm... "Welcome to the Dirty South" lol

I don't know why you wouldn't go to Texas. I mean, someone in Texas likes you or they wouldn't have offered you a job. If all the people that you currently work with don't like you - what do you have to lose.
As for what should you do with yourself? Well first of all you need to quit feeling so sorry for yourself and realize that you are a valuable person. If you feel your appearance has something to do with why people call you a loser, try a different look.
If you think it's your personality - then work on that. The only thing you can do is think positive and feel good about yourself.
If you look good, you feel good, if you feel & look good, others will notice.

You can't really change who you are, that just makes for disaster down the road. The Northeast has become the financial rectum of the nation, you might better go and try the life in Texas out, just be yourself and do your best, and don't look back. Forget about the negative stuff. And don't think of yourself as a loser, people that look down on others are just trying to feel better about themselves.

There is a saying that goes, "everywhere I go, there I am". It means that you will have the same problems where ever you go. You need to get some counseling to find out whats up. And the changes you make, need to be because YOU want to make the changes, not because thats what you think others may want. Really try to look within yourself. You need to find all that is wonderful about YOU. Do not worry about what other people think. When you begin to learn how to love yourself, others will follow. Good luck! And God Bless.

Start over. You might want to make yourself a better person and be more clean, that would make a good first impression.
