Simple: When u know that u will stick with that person for life through EVERYTHING
Like if they get paralyzed for life after a nasty accident, if u know u wouldn't leave them or cheat then that means u are in love.
Otherwise it is just lust / infatuation

ok, I have the perfect thing for you. Go on google or somethin' and look up "Rules of Courtly Love" by Andreas Capellanus. There are 31 rules. If a couple of them don't apply, then you're not in love. And that's that. No if ands or buts.
