Working in a bar is not a crime.

Probation is different from parole. Parole is for people getting out of prison.

Unfortunately, many bartenders, waiters & cocktail servers in Texas have criminal backgrounds. It does not make them bad employees.

You must be TABC certified to sell and/or serve alcohol in the state of Texas but there is no criminal investigation or background check involved in the process.
To become certified, you need only pass a short and simple exam after attending a several-hour class that is sponsored by the TABC. You must be at least 18 and need legal ID. (Pack a small lunch or take along some money for break time)

The person teaching the class will tell you all the answers to the test before you take it. You only need listen.

Here's something to remember: Most people who take the TABC test get this question wrong.
-Is alcohol a stimulant or depressant?-
Most people answer "stimulant". That is wrong.
Alcohol is a depressant.
It is the one question on the exam that most people miss.

(TABC = Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission)

Good Luck & have fun!
