The German Air force had the ME-262, the first Jet fighter used in WW2.....The British had prototype Jet aircraft towards the end of WW2...not combat ready.
In 1948, the F-86 Saber Jet was operation for the USAF. The Saber Jet saw Combat missions in Korea.
So, the development of Jet aircraft goes on and on.
