That varies with the branch of the Church. The Orthodox, IMO, have it right. They follow many of the practices of the early church when it was still part of the Jewish faith. Their church is called a temple and they do many things that are built on the Jewish traditions with a Christian twist.

I am a High Church Episcopalian and we use a lot of ritual. It helps us to worship with our whole being. Mind, body and spirit. Also there is serious theology behind the rituals; they are done for a reason.

i don't see christianity as very ritualistic, unless you talk about catholicism (not bashing).

Remembering Jesus when you eat and drink. Remembering how he died for you and his blood that was spilled and his flesh that was nailed to the tree.

That's about it.
