is it wrong to ask someone out over the internet or over the phone?

That's fine, if you got the phone number in person. I mean, ask them out on a date first (try to get a specific time nailed down; if you can't get her to agree to a specific time, then she probably doesn't like you). You should go out several times before you consider yourselves a couple. Good luck!

Heck no! The internet is another venue to meet people ...in the same way you would meet them in bars, clubs or at other social events. There are hundreds of dating web sites now.

The only difference is you don't know who you're talking to until you actually meet the person.

Therefore extra caution is necessary. Always choose a very public setting for a first meeting with ANYONE from the internet.
And ...you should let everyone around you know that you're about to meet up with someone from the web and where that meeting will take place.

Ugly things can and do happen so do take the extra precautions.

where is the difference in asking someone out over the internet opposed to a club or a bar. you don't know any more about the person in either situation except the person is in front of u in a club whereas the net they arnt. Either way it could turn into a bad situation but once again they are both strangers in both situations. Say no to someone to the internet you may pass up on meeting ur soulmate.

Not over the phone but over the internet maybe. If you don't know the person then I wouldn't ask them out over the internet cause you could be putting yourself in a bad situation.

This would depend on the girl a lot, if she likes you, she wouldn't care. If she doesn't, & you asked over the internet, it is easier to say no to. If she doesn't really know you and you are trying to make a good impression, call her up, girls like that :)

It's always best to do the asking in person. But if that's not possible then by all means ,ask. It's the only way you'll know if there is any interest on the other parties part.

It would be a lot better to tell a person face to face. It proves to the person that you really truly like them and you are brave and this means a lot to you. If you really are just too nervous or shy, write a note telling them your feelings, and atleast give the note to them when you pass by each other. Don't just stick the note into their backpack or mailbox!

no...it's perfectly fine to do so...to break up with someone over either would be wrong, but I think asking someone out is acceptable

It's not wrong...it ain't right either...

It's a bit impersonal and it's not the type of thing you'd want to call and do anyway.
