so i bought a car and put a $1000 deposit cash and $6000 check. the seller knew i didnt know anything about cars, but i knew the car was salvaged. i asked him why it was salvaged and he said it was because it only got scraped. but after i got it checkd by a mechanic he said it was more than a scrape. it can blow up anytime because the AC line is bent and that carries alot of pressure. so its been 5 days since i was trying to contact him with no response back. and today they just called and he said he'll return my 1000 but later on he had his sister call and she said i they are not returning the deposit money because it was a deposit. and she started threatning about shes gonna call the police and report the car stolen. she said we had the car for more than a week, and i answered its not like we were driving it, im not going to risk my life and my childrens driving that car and it's their fault they weren't answering my emails and calls. can i still get my deposit back, or not?

he even offereed to pay for the fixing of the brakes because later that day it was squealing. but after i started finding out problems he stopped responding and his excuse was he was out. i was telling him i need the 1000 back because of inadequate info. when i said exploding. i meant like it could just blow up and something else might fall off. not the whole car exploding. i was also told its a hazardous car to drive. the buyer knew i was going to use it for personal use, not chopping off the parts or whatever salvage companies do.

man, you had the car for 1 week....before purchasing a used car, u shld always hire the mechanic company who checks used cars before purchasing....
If you came back after 2 days, you could get your money back...but i mean its 7 days already...
The only thing you can do is hire a lawyer and sue them for mis-leading or mis0informing you, technically thts already fraud...so you can charge them on fraud...no matter wht you trusted them on word of mouth bcs its not your line and you dont know abt cars....they cheated you....remember to state tht it took you 7 days to find out bcs ...... (make up some good reason, if you r a student then University reasons are always cool)...
If i were you, i would sue them...dont call them anymore, just go to a lawyer and ask his advice, he will call for you...they will be afraid of a lawyer....
You will win bcs....they mis-lead you, fraud charges, they threathen you over the phone, you were ripped off, they promise to return the deposit but later changed their mind.

You should contact an attorney, as they may be able to keep the deposit ( did you sign paperwork for the deposit ? ). But then the bill starts running up and you may spend 750.00 to get your 1000.00 back. What you should learn from this is to get cars checked"before" any money is given. If they will not let you do that then they are not trustworthy. Also, never heard of a car blowing up from an a-c hose exploding. The a-c might go out but that is all.

Never give cash money!!
They told you this car was scraped, found out they lied to you. I would think that right there would give you a leg to stand on in court.
As far as how easy it will be to get your $1000 bucks back is another story...stop payment on the $6000 right now. Give the car back and if you have to call the law in to back you up (she already threatened you).
Buyer beware...Or do what someone did here in Oregon to a car dealership, they painted on the car a great big lemon, the license plate had the dealers name on it. This sounds like a private sale from dishonest people who are scamming people. Report them to the authorities.
Good luck!

Caveat Emptor. (Buyer beware) When buying a used car you really need to take someone with you that knows what to look for.
I can see both sides of this situation. You have buyer's remorse, and the seller doesn't want a car back that they thought was already sold.
I have been working on cars for years. I have never heard of a car blowing up because the a/c line is bent.
She has the right to keep the deposit. You have the right to take her to court to get it back.

You bought the car knowing it was salvaged. The dealer should not have to do anything for you. You should count your blessings that the dealer is willing to help. Do your research before you buy, not after.
You bought, now fix it. You were too cheap to pay full price for a car, and look what happened, just suck it up, and chalk it up to one of those things you learned your lesson on.

No bent AC line is going to cause the car to explode. You bought it, you knew it was a salvage title.

Do you have it in writing? If not, you are out of luck. It's called "Buyer Beware." It's up to you to make sure the car is in good running condition before you buy it.
