I have a Yellow Lab who weighs 70lbs. He is in pain this weekend from hip displaysia and arthritis. I can't get him to a vet until Monday. He cannot have asprin because he was on steroids two weeks ago for a severe allergic reaction. I have some leftover lortabs.. can he have part of one? Anybody know for sure?

Ok - all good advice. fyi he is not allergic to asprin.. just can't have it this soon after the steroids. He is asleep now on top of my down comforter with a towel over his back and hips to keep his body heat in. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

No!! Lortab has Acetaminophen which is toxic to dogs. Other than aspirin any other pain releiver that your dog can have needs to be prescribed by your vet. Is there an emergency clinic around you that you could call to find out for sure? (They are open 24/7 and are usually good about given advice about that over the phone- or at the very least will tell you for sure if Lortab is bad for your dog)

If there is an emergency vets office, I would call them to find out. Sometimes if you call your vets office, they will have a number to call for 'after office' hour emergencies.

You shouldn't give your dog anything unless the vet says it is okay.
