So many things have been said here and there. Some are PRO-legal immigration, some are ANTI-immigration, some are just PRO-anything-that-comes and so on... I just want to understand one thing: WHY DO NATIONALS HATE IMMIGRANTS? Is there a real reason? I mean, a sociological or psycological reason (no freaks, MinuteMan or Human Rights, please) to this, sometimes, out-of-control hate, allowing people to justify violence and disrespect against other people with the only excuse of their origin, as if ALL American countries were developed from immigrants. To the "semi-KKK" people who love to comment in these questions with answers like "go back to your country", I'd like to say I AM IN MY COUNTRY, I am studying Geography and Immigration Issues and I'd like to remember the Pilgrims were also immigrants... so... you should also go back to "Caucasia", don't you think?

Those with real information (even links) can email me. Thank you!

Someone asked me so... I'm from Brazil and I study at Rio de Janeiro State University. I lived LEGALLY in US from 2003 to 2006 in Phoenix, AZ. I still have great friends in US, mostly Americans, but I also had some soda cups on me while I was waiting the bus on the bus stop... being treated as if I was somewhat responsible for some shooting that happened in the other side of the city...

I paid taxes, and because of my VISA, I didn't have the right to have it back, so don't accuse me of anything.

The United States has become a country of hateful people who are beyond spoiled. I have a friend who lived in South Africa most of her life and she came here four years ago. She was absolutely amazed at how much stuff Americans threw away. In her country, most people were poor or just surviving.

Also I think the politicians have used the issue to divide Americans on this issue. They set the tone by being divisive and that gives Americans license to do the same thing.

I am really tired of the name calling, hate filled diatribes and labeling of people. It's just IGNORANT!

Please don't equate legal and illegal immigration as being the same thing.
Most people who are against the invasion of illegal foreign nationals are NOT anti-immigrant. Anyone against legal immigrants is either childish or completely ignorant.

I think the ending of your question is a bit racist and condescending to white people. So maybe you should look at your own hatred first.

The solution is to have our laws enforced. That isn't being done. That's why the invasion is increasing.

I don't have a problem with immigrants. I welcome them graciously. I don't even have a problem with some illegal immigrants slipping through. Its always bound to happen and often deportation means they will likely die. I would never want that.

The problem I have is with this invasion of tens of millions of people who are invading the nation in which I was born and raised and then undercutting my wages. The number of illegal immigrants far outweighs those who do it legally. I think those americans who dissagree with me are people who live in middle and upper class america who take advantage of the slashed labor prices to help sustain their lifestyle. Meanwhile people like me who work for a living are stuck. Our wages are not going up and this is most of the reason.

Once upon a time the illegal immigrants we doing the jobs no one else wanted to do. Now I see them everywhere labor is involved. all facets of construction, Doing landscaping, fixing cars, moving companies, Fixing roads, caring for you children and cleaning your house. These are not jobs no one wants. These are jobs americans need to survive! Do you wonder why you have to work 2 jobs to survive without post education? Its because they are more than willing to if we won't! These are not refugees they are not fleeing for their lives.

Not to mention the gaping holes in our border are an open invitation to terrorists who would love to just walk in here and blow something up!
NOW GET THIS I"M A LIBERAL!
I VOTE DEMOCRAT!

Americans are not hateful of immigration,it is the illegal immigration they are all wound up about and for good reason http://projectusa.org/arguments/printer_arguments.html. illegals are simply bad for our country. Americans whos families have fought wars and paid taxes and lived by the laws dont feel it is fair for someone to come in and disrespect all of that.

We have laws in this country , right . Well one of our laws ,is that nobody can come into this country without papers . So when you cross our borders without papers you are breaking the laws of our country and that makes you an illegal person . There is no hate or anger , just that you can't be here illegally without making people mad for breaking our law and getting away with it . There are many other reasons that Americans get so mad , for one people that come here without being checked for disease , bring them into this country and our people will be at risk , then there are the drugs coming into the US and all the money being spent on the illegals at others expense . I could go on and on . Lets just leave it at that .

What country are you in.

You are right a lot of hate and no solution. The hate will always be there. The solutions should be decided by our federal government. The problem was caused by the Mexican and USA governments. There is hate on both sides of the border. The only thing I care about is humane treatment for the illegals.

Your question is a little confusing - you don't seem to be making a differentiation between legal immigration and illegal immigration. I think what you find is that a lot of US citizens are against ILLEGAL immigration - not LEGAL immigration. Do you understand that there is a difference?

I don't hate immigrants, I just do not appreciate the fact that so many are taking advantage of coming across our borders without documentation and then thinking they are entitled to everything and expect a handout.
