Issiah 53:10
Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand
53:10 "He shall see his seed." The Hebrew word for "seed", used in this verse, always refers to physical descendants in Scriptures e.g., Gen. 12:7; Gen. 15:13; Gen. 46:6; Ex. 28:43. A different word, generally translated as "sons", is used to refer to spiritual descendants (see Deut. 14:1, e.g.).
so how could this verse be talking about Jesus?

My two cents--
Mainstream reasoning:
Could it mean the 'fruits of His labor' perhaps?
Radical reasoning:
Okay, He was married after all. Now what? Will that idea alter your faith then? [Followed by: 'Ye of so little faith...']
Peace be with you.

Excellent question. The answer is because Jesus is God coming down to earth in the form of man. He has been prophesied to experience just that. In Genesis 3:15 after the fall of man into sin, God made a promise to send His Son, Jesus, born of a woman, or "the woman's seed" (Isaiah 7:14). He will be bruised or killed by the serpent/snake which symbolized the devil, but will finally crush the serpent's head meaning utterly destroying the devil. This is a prohecy of how Jesus will suffer just as described in Isaiah 53, but finally He will be successful in finally destroying the devil and sin with its results.
His name "Immanuel" which means "God dwells among men"
is a very beautiful description of how God Himself came down and dwelled among men for 33 1/3 years as the best teacher and example to teach us about God and to bring us back to Him.
His coming was also to suffer the worst of death as the worst of criminal so that He can save any sinner however bad his condition is. The word Son of God means spiritual Son, in that He was not the real son of God as I call my son through marriage, infertelization of human seed, and yet at the same time He was born to become like us, to be clad with humanity, so that he can be tempted and feel all our sorrows and suffering and weakness but without sin. Thus He was able to become our subsitute and save us from any kind of temptation.
That is a mystery that the Bible says even the angels could not fully understand, and it is a subject that we will study throughout eternity. If you can fully understand this mystery then you are better than the angels already!

The "seed" spoken of in Isa. 53:10 are the spiritual descendents of Jesus according to other verses in the Bible ....in spite of how the word "seed" was used in other places.
One verse from the OT and one from the NT to confirm the meaning of Isaiah:
Ps 22:29-31
all who go down to the dust will kneel before him--
those who cannot keep themselves alive.
30 Posterity will serve him;
future generations will be told about the Lord.
31 They will proclaim his righteousness
to a people yet unborn--
for he has done it.
(from New International Version)
John 17:6-11
6 "I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. 7 Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. 8 For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. 9 I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. 10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. 11 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name-the name you gave me
(from New International Version)
Those who have become one with Jesus are the nation and church over which Jesus the Christ rules.

because they will tell you that seed, which is just a G-rated way of saying sperm, somehow does not refer to physical descendants. maybe they never took sex ed and don't realize what exactly sperm does and does not do? for example, sperm DOES create children, but sperm does NOT inspire faith

why not, its too ambiguous to not be talking about Jesus or any other person. and there are billions of people who follow his teachings which could also mean seeds.

It obviously does not speak of Jesus.
Unfortunately, it is very common for Christians to misquote the Bible (OT) in order to make it fit in with their beliefs.

Remember Jesus was fully human and fully God. He wasn't half and half. Mary is in his lineage and therefore, Jesus was a physical decendent of May.

Hi Gratvol,
It is talking about Jesus, you don't want to admit it, but it is.
