does anyone honestly think he would know anything about god or any other kind of modern god today? Say the person somehow survives and we are somehow able to communicate with him, do you think he'll know about god and all his miracles?

No, so thats why I say people are only religious because their parents are.

No you say? so if you were born into an Atheist family would you still belive in god? No

edit* Stop being pissants and actually try to formulate a real answer, unlike one being, "god is everywhere you tool."

I want a real answer from you people. Really think deep down, if you can. You proabably cant though.

Being smarter than 99% of the world sucks. They dont give real answers.

A single person would not know about any specific deities being worshiped elsewhere in the world or the myths associated with that deities. But perhaps if there were a small group of people, some type of primitive religion might spring forth. I don't think it would necessarily be like any known religion, but I am sure that it would have some very basic things in common (like explaining death, explaining the sun or the seasons, etc.) Interesting question.

People tend to deify that which seems bigger or more powerful that them. Even without language, the stone age beings had already begun the worship of the Sun, Moon, Stars, Rocks, Mountains , Trees etc etc

I guess its an innate part of us that reaches out to something beyond our limitations of consciousness.

Spiritual People come in several catergories I believe:

- The Worshippers : Those who look ABOVEand ask for things like a young child asking Mom and Dad for treats

- The Devotees : Those that look OUTWARDS at humanity to find divinity's essence, harmony and know that they too can be part of that

- The Aspirant : Those that look WITHIN and understand that the Divine is nothing but who they really are in their hearts. The divine is actually just within our thoughts, feelings and nature.

A lone baby on an island, will only know the divinity within... his nature, his instincts and his emotions. Whether he develops into any of the three above is all up to random selection :) hehe

P/s: I assume when you say 99% smarter, means you have taken some sort of IQ test to confirm that... there is also EQ and .... IQ tests results tend to diminish as we get older, take the test again in another 5 years and see if you still are rated among 99% catergory ( I did and now I feel about as a smarter as a head of broccoli lol )

If you want a real answer, give us a real question. Anyone left by their mother on an island would die, unless someone saved them of course, in which case that person would influence the baby's beliefs.

I know you were being hypothetical, but you have a way of irritating complete strangers, congratulations.

I know what you're getting at though. What you're trying to ask, albeit in a rude and arrogant way, is -

"Is belief in a deity inherent within a person, or is it learned?"

Is that it?
Was it so hard to ask for help in phrasing a simple sentence?

Being more arrogant than 99% of the rest of the world must also suck.

The answer is obvious, it is learned. Religion is a cultural phenomenon, and you learn it from your family and those with whom you come into contact.

By the way, you had a few spelling mistakes in your question, as well as misusing capitals. You lose a percent for that.

Christianity traveled down through the ages along with the bible. If someone was truely that isolated no he probably wouldn't have heard of God. That is also one of the reasons we have missionaries. They go and do God's work by speaking to those who would otherwise have no way of knowing about God. In reality, people other than parents can influence someone in regards to their spirituality. Children at school, the mailman those at work and so on. It is my hope that parents would be the main influence for children seeking a relationship with God but as long as they are shown the way, praise the Lord.

I'm on your side on this one, guy, but honestly, you're not gaining any willing participants by insulting them before they utter a word.

Remember, the silly answers often come from 13-year-olds. Most of them haven't had enough experience to start questioning the doctrines they inherited. They may be starting here. And if they think that atheists are grumpy guys who engage in ad hominem attacks, they may be delayed in more fully examining their faith. You make atheism sound scary.

But being smarter than 99% of the world, you probably knew that.

Well eventually he would have to formulate a basic idea of why things happen. He would discover causality and believe that to be a proof of someone watching over him or something. Obviously he would´nt name this being God or maybe so, but he would definitely create an entity and by finding him it would re-enforce his belief that someone is watching over him. That´s one thing that might happen. Hope you find this answer a little smater than the rest, if not then sod off ;)

You are asking what if questions . . . . what if God exists and you still refuse to listen?

A real answer? There were many my 99% smarter than the world friend. Maybe think deep down if you can and read a few of the previous scriptures, maybe it will be an awakening for you.

I am not trying to be smart or rude but you have to ask a better question than what if . . . . . . . there was some good feed back on your first attempt.

I'm smarter than 90%, look dude, you have to figure out how to cope. Religion and Politics are the two most controversial subjects on this site. Okay? When they decide to attack some guy because they can't stand to be shown up, or have deep personal convictions, I can give you advice on healing broken bones( and, hey, I'm not joking either).

Yes you would be an atheist. You would lose your mind thou. We are social creators. However i think if you put a group of people on an island that never had a religion. If the were primitive after a while they would make something up start worshiping the sun. Thats how it starts.

First of all, my parents weren't religious people. I became a Christian of my own volition. My Mother and my sister became Christians 5 years after I did,and my Dad, 2 years after that. Just to clarify, not all Christians became so from being brought up to be so. We have valid reasons to believe as we do,and just because you haven't experienced what we have doesn't give you the right to belittle us in ANY way.
Secondly, just because some atheists were brought up not to believe in God does NOT mean some will not eventually believe. Madalyn Murray O'Hair was,as you all know, a famous and extremely devout atheist, and raised her kids to be atheists also, but that didn't stop her oldest son from becoming a Christian later on.
Thirdly, believing in God doesn't make anyone any less intelligent than anyone who doesn't believe. That is a delusional statement for anyone to make, and actually makes the one making that statement look like he/she lacks good sense, judgement, and proper comprehension skills, not to mention a complete lack of respect for his/her fellow human beings.
