I depends on the individual in my opinion. For example, If I'm drinking beer at a constant pace and my liver is breaking down the alcohol in my body at a faster rate than I'm consuming the beer than the answer would be yes. Oh BTW, I was a Navy Sailor for 10 years and one thing we sailors are good at is drinking lots of alcohol. In those days, I drank like a fish with no hangovers (Very high metabolism), but I'm in my 30's now and if I drink like that I'm getting sick. When I'm out now, I usually have a couple of glasses of Merlot or may have a very dirty vodka Martini. Don't see the purpose anymore. I drank for the effects definitely not for the taste. Like I said previously, It all depends on the individual. Every single person has the same make up internally, but the body chemistry is not the same. Why is it some people may develop lung or mouth cancer from using tobacco and others do not? It's all about the body chemistry.

Alcohol has an interesting effect on people. I've been the designated driver a few times. You get to watch your friends get blasted from a completely sober point of view.

People who honestly beleive they are showing no signs of intoxication, will be over pronouncing their words, over compensating any motions (ashing a cigerette, walking to the john), and they become overly philosophical.

And these are the same people that are claiming they went past the drunk state and were sober again. The alcohol is doing what it does, depressing the mental state, and convincing them they are sober.

No, you cannot drink yourself sober. And black coffee will not sober you up either. You just have a wide awake drunk.

Ok, not entirely true. If you have a few cups of coffee over a period of 2 or 3 hours, you may be sober.

I sometimes think it's happened, however being sober would mean you would have no hangover and the next morning I do feel pain! I never drink and drive so I would, not even if I had a few and thought I was sober again, get behind the wheel.

Some people believe that if you wake up with a chronic hangover, all you need to do is start drinking, then eventually you will find a happy medium where you think you are sober,

i agree with everyone else you cannot drink yourself sober only time can make a person sober and drinking to much alcohol mostly hard liquor can lead to alcohol poisoning resulting in death so take it easy and enjoy life.
