On atkin's, you don't eat any carbs at all for the first 2 weeks. This way, you put your body in a state of Ketosis. You only eat meat and dairy and very few salads. No fruit and only salads with vinegar and oil type dressings- no carbs! I believe it is only one salad per day. After the 2 weeks you can begin to add vegetables slowly and as long as you don't gain weight, you don't have to cut them out. No beans, potatoes, corn, carrots, fruit, processed foods, bread. Basically just meat and veggies.

No potatoes, corn, pasta or rice. Essentially it is a protein diet eggs, bacon, any meat, fish and chicken. I began on this and was very strict the constipation was awful and the hemorrhoids screamed, you need to have some fibre in your diet to remain healthy. Instead of completely Atkins I allowed low carb fruit and veg and you can get plenty of books on these, you can also get printouts from the net that list foods with salt content, carb allocation. fat content etc. If you are interested I began with protein breakfast, grazed on nuts, cherry tomatoes and pieces of red capsicum (bell peppers) red fruit and berries are high in antioxidents, this was followed witha protein lunch of Tuna and cheese usually and a yoghurt, apple or fruit of choice for afternoon tea and for dinner I would make a salad that contained less than 100 g carbs which is a lot if salad and a piece of steak, chop or chicken skin off and grilled. If I was still hungry an evening snack of apple and cheese or yoghurt. In essence I was on low fat, low salt and low sugar....you have to get very good at reading food lables. I drank plenty of water and I walked briskly for 1/2 hour most days. I lost 40kg approc 88.19lbs and have kept it off for 5+ years. I am healthier than Ihave ever been and the Dr has checked everything. Good Luck!

It is healthy as F%*&, keep it up, I'm on a more extreme version of Atkins (absolutely carnivore/zero-carbs) and it has revolutionized my health

When in Rome do as the Romans , I prefer to eat the food local to the country I am traveling in. I think it enhances the travel experience.
If doubtful of trying new culinary cuisine, start off with something basic, salads, wines, breads, cheese etc.
Enjoy your trip to Athens.
