She was not given by sarah, but a paharoah of egypt. Abraham(pbuh) was one day passing through egypt and he told his wife not to tell the pharoah of thier marital status because he was a big tyrant of the land and his wife was revered as exceptionally beautifull. As he tried to seduece her, GOD put a spell on him and she begged GOD to release the curse on him because then he would blame her an most likely kill her. So HE released it. Then he tried to seduce her a second time and GOD put an even bigger curse on him. She asked the same thing and then GOD released the curse on him. He was so terrified of her afterwards that he gave her a slave named hajar. This is how the story goes. Hajar was the mother of ishmael(pbuh) according to islamic history. But it also says that she was jealous of her and was attempted to kill her. So that is when she ran for her life with thier son. Ishmael(pbuh) is revered as the father of the arabs and decendant of the prophet muhammad(pbuh). I am not to sure, but in islamic stories, she was still pregnant when she was chased away fearing her life. In the judaic story, hajar was chased off with her son ishmael(pbuh) because he was noted as being a half savage because he was half egyption. *Now this is from me. Not to sound too stereotypical, but that seems kind of racist to my thought. I highly doubt he was a savage. Because all of abraham's(pbuh) sons were great prophets. Even ismael(pbuh). PEACE!

But to answer your question, her name was hajar. And she was given by the pharoah of egypt.
