Many are born into it, and are taught by their families.
In my case, it was different. I came to put my faith in Christ by seeking out believers, after trying different ideas. I was impressed bythe reality of the lives and faith of the believers, and started to recognize there might be truth to their faith. Eventually, though, it was a personal encounter with Christ (not visual, but very real nonetheless)

'Most 'people chose their religion by what their parents believe. A small percentage chose based on their research of spiritual things and what they observe in the world and have read in history. I belong to the second catagory.

You for sure grew to change into Atheist because you spoke of no evidence of a larger ability. Why might want to all people follow a faith that they do no longer have self belief serves a real god? If someone believes there faith is incorrect they convert to a distinct faith or change into Atheist/Agnostic. hence leaving purely the genuine believers in that faith. BTW- I also see reliable makes use of for faith, yet I also see the infinite abuses and atrocities justified with the aid of non secular beliefs. the international might want to be a extra efficient position without faith for my section.

Usually, it's what they're born into. Their parents take them to church and tell them they have to pray, tell them they have to attend Sunday School, tell them it's all real. Children believe everything their parents say up until a certain age, parents are our first Gods. So naturally, if they tell you God is real and you must worship him in a certain way, a child will not question it.
The questioning comes later on when we learn that our parents are not Gods after all, and are prone to mistakes, just like everyone else.

I chose mine (the Church of the Angry Kitty Bunghole) because it sounded cool, and I like the smell of the fresh cat litter they scatter in the pews.
