It is fairly simple. Taylormade is the number one club used when combining all golf tours. It is not a matter of how much they pay the players it is simply the best driver on the market. As a PGA club pro I see the results and 75% of people who come to our demo days prefer the TaylorMade product over everything else combined. The issue lies in getting your golf clubs fit correctly. Cobra is a good club but TaylorMade offers more fitting techniques to each individual. Your friend may like the Cobra, which is fine, but look at the facts of the clubs in the pro's bags!

If you ask Taylormade, their drivers are better. If you ask Cobra, theirs are the best. Taylormade and Cobra have a dispute.

You didn't mention models for either driver and there are significant differences between the models.

As a rule, Taylormade has the edge on "shot improvement" aspects, like adjustable weights, etc. But I think that Cobra has the advantage in the area of face technology with a more forgiving face.

Which is better? That's an apples vs oranges question. Which one works the best for you? That's the one that's better.

Taylormade. It has movable weights to adjust to your game. Now they have more forgiving r7's in the r7 460 and the r7 Draw which is also 460cc.

Cobras have gigantic faces so it's hard to miss. But I hate the sound that they make at impact. It sounds like a very loud tin can.

Taylormade has been the #1 driver on all the major tours for a very long time. more players play Taylormade drivers than Cobra, Nike, Ping, Nickent, Callaway, and Cleveland.

Taylormade is, all in all, the better club.

Cobra is a great driver , the Cobra company is associated with Accushnet which is the company that produces Titleist , Taylormade has all those bells and whistles nuts and bolts , but Cobra is just a solid well made Driver , why do the majority of long drive competitors use Cobra ? because its a good driver So I would say Cobra is better .

If you are a high handicap golfer, it really doesn't matter which club you use. A good club can only react to the skill of the person swinging it. I'm in that category and I own a Taylormade R580 HD and it has had minimal effect on my driving distance and accuracy. The head is so large I call it a "Volkswagen on a stick".
The same can be applied to golf balls. I saw a program that demonstrated that all types of balls will travel the same distance when hit exactly the same way. In other words an $18/dozen box of balls will do the same as a $50/dozen box of balls. The pros are the ones who can do all the fancy stuff with the ball based on the various core and surface compositions.
I think it really boils down to what feels comfortable for you, individually.

Hello Gilman

I dont know what side of the fence your on but I have to tell you, I have hit both drivers.

Two of my friends were getting new drivers , 1 played Taylor made and the other Cobra.
The Cobra owner would sell me the club for $50.00
The Taylor made owner was going to give his to me

After hitting both I gave Joe the $50.00 for his Cobra rather then getting the free Taylor made. So there you have it.

Of course that was just my particular swing and game, someone else probably would have taken the Taylor made.

In short , I think Cobras are better.

Leon

Taylor Made has more engineering built into it....but like with any clubs....the best clubs are the ones that will let you hit farther and straighter.

It's not the tool, it's the mechanic using it.
