My ex-boyfriend took my car and refused to bring it back. His last known address is my house and he got fired, so I can't send him a certified letter like the police department told me to. I'm not sure what else I can do - maybe someone else in Texas can help me? Please?

The police said that its not stolen because he used to live with me.

The car and insurance are both in my name only. He has no family anywhere near here (only lived here for about a year). We're definitely not common-law married.

If the vehicle is in your name only - then you should be able to report it stolen

Just don't tell them you used to live together - tell them you and he broke up and he took off with your vehicle.

OK, your car has not been stolen, there is implied consent, you lived together and he likely was allowed to drive the vehicle all the time. At best, the police might accept a report of your vehicle being taken without permission but that's the best you are going to do. It will not get your vehicle into the stolen vehicle database either so no one will be looking for it on your behalf. If you can, cancel your insurance policy (some States insist that the plates be turned in before they allow this to happen but try anyway). Don't know what type of vehicle this is so I don't know if it makes financial sense or not but you could hire a skip tracer to help you locate the car.

Who is the car registered to and who is the insurance poilicy under? Texas is after all a community property state that honors common law marriage so if the car is in both or your names then you have a problem. As far as finding him, certainly someone in his family knows where he is, if you have to send a certified letter to him at eveyone of their addresses then do it.

You have a right to contact your local law enforcement agency and report your vehicle as "stolen". It matters not if you lived together...if the title is only in your name then the car is yours...period.

If you feel that it has been stolen, then report it as a stolen vehicle.

Your ex-boyfriend has no legal rights to your vehicle.

seems such as you have some emotional problems. you may recover from your ex. it might finally end up hurting your modern courting. you may not attempt to evaluate sexual companions, reason all human beings does issues in a various way. and now and back adult men choose a lesson each so generally. everytime you have intercourse, determine you tell him precisely what feels the suitable, and compliment him for doing the suitable stuff via telling him how sturdy he's. that would help in making him sense extra confident and much extra verbal in the mattress room. yet evaluating him to your ex is in simple terms going to harm you in the top.

report it to the local police as stolen and you think it was stolen by a guy in Texas and give them the names of contacts and their cities of residence. His punk AS* will rue the day he stole it.
