I've lived in Korea for 7 years. I think people think Korean people are rude due to their etiquette in public. Older women will push you on the subway to get out of the way for example and people don't really line up sometimes and instead just push onto the bus. This isn't rude though its just the etiquette in Korea. There's a phrase "bali bali" which means hurry up. You will notice the pace of life in the cities is very fast. People drive fast, walk quickly, and just do general tasks very quickly. I enjoy it because the service is quick but to a foreigner it can seem rude when you are kind of pushed by others around you to move faster. It will slow down later. Korea developed so quickly so they are still in this mind set. As for cleanliness, I live in Gwangju and the buildings are quite old in many areas but the newer buildings are nice and clean looking. There is a lot of litter but it is picked up by workers. It's pretty clean in general. Seoul streets are cleaner than Gwangju. Maybe they have more workers and more trash cans. This will all improve as well. Come visit!

Seoul could be the capital of Korea and it has over 600 decades of record and now you can learn it with hotelbye . Seoul is one's heart of Korea's culture and training in addition to politics and economics. Seoul is home to numerous old historic sites like Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung Palaces, and areas of conventional lifestyle like Bukchon Hanok Village, Insa-dong, and Namdaemun Market. The shopping and activity districts of Myeongdong and Apgujeong, and Asia's biggest undercover buying middle COEX Mall also draw a big quantity of tourists every year. In only one word, Seoul is incredible, is just a town worth visit.

Yes, it has places that's dirty and smelly. It also has many places that's beautiful and with fresh air.
It's your choice, what to see and to remember.
I think Paris is one of dirtiest, rudest city, yet, people still wants to go there, because they know it also has a lot more beautiful places.
also, Korean people are very kind and helpful in most of cases, but, if they felt being disrespect, they can be very offend by it.
No matter where you go, go with open mind.
Expect both good and bad.
After all, it's still a part of this world.

haha, is this a joke? 3rd world country? I don't believe that you have a Korean wife and visited there, you're a troll(probably Japanese) Korea is a first world, developed nation with high gdp and high tech, living standard comparable to western Europe. Korea is so much cleaner compare to New York, Paris, and other major cities in the world

I lived there for a year and I don't think it was dirty. I would say Seoul was actually cleaner than most U.S. cities. The people were very friendly and there are some beautiful places to visit.

It depends on where you go. The smells are prob'ly due to the cars, and the food sold on the streets (the food smells are considered pleasant to Koreans, but to foreigners, it might smell bad).

It's not quite the structured, ordered, cleanest place ever but it's certainly not the dirtiest.

It would also be advisable to learn Korean well, if you want people to be pleasant. Koreans always like it if foreigners speak Korean, but are apt to be rude to foreigners who keep insisting on speaking English... loudly. But overall, not "very rude"... people are also more rude during the hot summer months.

Hope that helps!

Korea is still considered a 3rd world country so its different than the states many houses in the farmland still have dirt floors.. Seoul is very crowded and the alleys and roads are smaller than here so it would seem dirty.. the smell is from their food (Kimchi fermented cabbage) and they are still updating their sewers that is why it smells... as for the people being rude you are way wrong from my travels around the country they are the nices people around,, they keep to themselves way to much and that makes them seem snoby or something like that but if you approach them and be friendly youve got a friend for life.....

no.well it depends on how you think about it.you see, korea is kinda ...fully packed so there are things everywhere.if you were my mom you would not like korea.its crouded and it is messy in some areas but the beauty and the coulture in the area is realy quite magnificent.it might smell to you because you are not used to the area.but you get used to it.it can also depend on where you go.construction can smell bad because of breaking into pipes, the food, cars, toxic waste, and fertilizers smell bad too.trust me.you should learn to speak korean just like the other girl said.i dont think they would like it if they have to explain everything.
