pool's never meant cagnotte or mare in French but (swimming) pool

so if the pool is closed then la piscine est fermée.

By the way, quick comment on the Google translate tool, don't use it. It can give you horrible results, stuff that makes no sense at all!

pool = mare, cagnotte

is = est

closed = fermés, fermées, fermé, fermâmes, fermai, ferma

(Just make up the sentence you prefer..)

My example:
