I had a completely wonderful college experience, partied a lot, was active in my fraternity and among other friends. I didn't think I worked hard, though some semesters when I took twenty-five or so hours others would have said I did. I never obsessed about getting into medical school, and as long as I kept my GPA in the area roughly around 3.5 didn't worry. Worked for me. Medical school was like going from college ball to the NFL. It's a different level. My first gross anatomy test, I scored something like a 35 and wondered if I'd made a real mistake in career choice, until I discovered my score was about average on a "welcome to the big leagues" test. They got our attention!
I went to a small college. I think there were a dozen of us wanting to go to medical school. Seven got in. I knew all of them and had no doubts about the success of any of them. Those with the ability went. Those who didn't, didn't.

I am a med student. I spend a lot of time studying. There are subjects which are difficult and u need to spend your time studying. For me, the nervous system part is difficult. The difficulty of the subject depends really on you. Oh don't worry of not getting any life when you go into medicine. You do have a life sometimes like after an exam. You get to go to malls, watch movies and those stuffs you like.

It's difficult to get admitted into a very high standard medical school. I think that's universal to all not just med school. You must have a good MCAT and good grades also in your pre-med.

Examine exactly which classes you are having difficulty with. If you are having trouble with the science stuff ( chem, bio, etc), don't let that bother you. The important thing is to have an effective study plan. Figure out why you are having difficulty. It is not that your are not smart enough. But you have to have a smart plan, one that works for you. Don't mimic other students' study habits if they are not working for you. Obviously, grades (and the MCAT) are important, but medical schools also look at the kind of person you are. ANY course of study leading to a graduate degree is going to be hard. It is all relative. If it is your desire to be a physician, then pursue it. If you don't get accepted first time out, try again. Maintain a sense of purpose, know that some social life is going to suffer, make the commitment, and don't give up. Good luck.
PS: You know what they call you when you graduate last from the worst medical school in the country?
Doctor.

in order to do medicine, u must have great dedication to hard work. Becoming a doctor is quite prestigious. Anyone can become a doctor, the only thing that is important, is to have the dedication for hard work. Yes, in school (during medical schools) they will work your behind like crazy. You will be up many nights (sometimes in a row) studying for classes. Its definitely will not be something that can be undertaken very easily, but then again, its very doable (sometimes, unless there are some who cant possibly keep up with the medical school's pace). It all depends on "how badly" you want to become a doctor, and let me just tell u this right now, its going to be quite tough, but u must put yur head to it, if u want yur dreams to come true...i am giving this from the perspective of a graduated pre-med...tryin to get in to medical school.

i'm a sri lankan medicl student..here it is very hard to enter the medical school..top bunch from A/Ls get selected..so worked really hard to enter. Its not about how many hours u study...,make best out of the few hours u study by concentrating well..now 2 years hav passed,& im enjoying my work at the moment..to bo truthful, there's a hell of a lot to study..but when u think of the ultimate result, it's worth working hard for it..so if u are interested in making human life better, work hard & enter medical school..,u ll never regret.! good luck.
