Its hard-coded into the computer. You could get an aftermarket chip for it (like the ones sold by MSD) that will override the limiter but its part of the ECM system and cannot be disabled.

I know how you feel Heath. My 2002 Ford Ranger Edge with a 3.0 V6 cuts out at 94 M.P.H. and it's really frustrating on the interstate. My last Ranger was a 1999 Sport with the same drive train and it cut out at 104 M.P.H. If you keep the steering wheel really still and don't make any stupid moves, there's no reason you can't do 120 M.P.H. I think you should be able to turn the rev limiter off just like you can turn the passenger side air bag off.

I agree with Scott, Have you seen what a ford Ranger looks like after even a minor accident?. 90mph in that vechicle is really too much. My personal advice, If you can afford it, get a better vechicle.

"rev-limiter"?

What usually stops you from going too high of an RPM is something called Valve Float. You need valve springs with a higher tension to get a higher RPM. That's a lot of work... and why would you want to do it?

Most of the speed limiters are set by speed rating on the tires.
