I think he was placed on the island for that reason. He must learn howto find his way off and realize why he is there. God doesn't hate Gilligan but maybe the island.

If If he had gotten off of the island the story would mhave been over and for the sake of Gilligan aka Bob Denver I hope God doesn't hate him as he died this year

you kidding me? Did you fully see the show, god must have loved those people they seems so happy living away from other people and away from world suffering. They live in a beautiful island, they love each other like a family, they got unlimited fresh water and foods to eat, above all its a paradise.

they did get off the island, in the last movie--then the Howells bought the island and they all went back and opened up a resort
