my 2 and a half year old likes to drink 3 cups of milk a day. I used to give him two cups of milk and one cup of soy milk- once every morning, evening and night. I notice that he gets a cold often, and when i stop the cow's milk, he's ok. Is it ok to give him 3 cups of soy milk everyday, or is it too much?

It is tasty and contains Vitamins and other healthy nutrients. Also, helpful for children that have allergies and it is found to be easier to digest. It is often given to infants who have trouble with whole milk.

If he does well with it, why not?

I disagree with giving soy to children. A little soy milk here and there won't hurt, I wouldn't make it a regular part of their diet. Soy can be estrogenic which is great for menopausal woment, but not the best for children. The link below is a summary of some interesting articles about soy and children.

Soy milk is great, it has the same vitamins and calcium as cows milk without the chances of milk intolerance. It is also great in cereal and cooking, we drink only soy milk in this household and we are way past toddlerhood...LOL

I would stay away from cows milk. I don't think we were ever meant to drink it. Look at what the fat and cholesterol does to our body. Soy has allot of good stuff in it and a more natural fat.

read this first and then decide if you really want to give your child soy... I decided against it and went with goats milk. we have an allergy to cows milk in our house. but remember when you read it is is not saying soy is bad for you but the over consumption of it is....
