These words appear on my family coat of arms. I have no idea what they mean. The family is from England so this further confuses me. Help Please. Lucy

I think you're misreading the motto. I believe it's actually the Latin phrase "nec temere, nec timide." Search the web for that and you'll find all sorts of information. Two translations include:

1) "Neither in haste nor in fear"
2) "Neither rashly nor timidly"

If its on a coat of arms, it is probably old english.
