To me it seems as if they're grasping at straws (whatever that means) .

I find it rather entertaining. They know that science is a valid source for facts and information because of evidence. Therefore, they try (failing miserably at it) to twist science into their beliefs to make it seem realistic. It's when they try to force their misconceptions of truth into schools that bugs me.

I am physics major and I don’t believe in God for this simple reason “THE LAWS OF PHYSICS CANNOT BE VIOLATE” as some religions say. Some religions say that God creates from nothing... think about it, it violates the laws of physics and brings catastrophic consequences to our universe.... God is a mythological character created by our ancestors’ weak minds in order to put in place a rebellious person or group of people.

p.s the comment under mine says that archeology and science are probing that the bible is correct.... that is the stupidest think I have ever heard because in contrast, it is the contrary to what he states.... now I ask: where the hell in the bible does it talks about dinosaurs or prehistoric creatures? The bible is just a book of fantastic, fairy-tale and erratic stories that nobody should believe in. it only gives erratic information for the youth.

What happened to Galileo Galilee when he stated that the earth was not the center of the universe? The church (religion) opposed to this scientific statement. This is another fact for which religion should not be incorporated to science and vice versa...

Personally, I say go for it if they can legitimately support their claims. As an aside on this, I am very irritated when religious people incorporate science into their religion but refuse to see obvious problems with their claim. Outside of this, I'll hold my tongue.

I agree. the controversy can bypass on continuously without determination because there is not any longer something to unravel. faith is philosophy and can want to be debated as such ... you both have self belief or you do not technological information is a proof of how the international works. You throw a rock up contained in the air and one hundred% of the time it is going to come decrease backpedal. Gravity. it would not be counted in case you've faith it or no longer. It purely is.

There's nothing wrong with science. God created science. Science=the study of everything created by God. When so-called science contradicts God, then it's pseudo-science. The problem is knowing how to tell the difference. There are a LOT of Christians well-versed in scientific topics. But a lot of what people call "science" is really nothing more than "science fiction." God knows everything, man knows nothing in comparison.
I only have a problem with science when a person changes their beliefs to go along with it. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Science has changed many many times over the centuries.

Very good question. Let me tell you that when I was young I thought that the Bible is a book good only for little children full of fables and moral stories to scare them or to be used as a prod to make them be good children, or for old people who have more time to spend on things like that. Aren't they considered as experiencing second childhood?
But after I read the whole book thoroughly I was amazed at so many scientifical facts in it. To quote just a few:
We know that before Columbus discovered America in 1492 scientists believed that the world was flat like a table.
The book of Isaiah which was written more than 2000 years before that discovery had already mentioned that the world is like a giant globe or ball on which somebody can sit.

It is He who sits above the circle of the earth,
And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers,
Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,
And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. (Isaiah 40:22)
Here is a more mazing scientical fact, written about 3500 years before our day when we use electricity or "lightning" as our obedient servant in providing us such prompt services as: lighting, heating, air conditioning, telephone conversations, pictures to our TV screens, cooking, etc., etc.. Long before Benjamin Franklin found out about the electrical current in lightning which can be exploited by us, the Bible in Job 38:35 has mentioned that we can use it (by the way the Chinese character for "electricity" is exactly the same as for "lightning" which is "dian", that's why they call TV "dian shi" or electric/lightning pictures/film, tram is "dian che" or electric/lightning car, "lamp" is "diandeng" or lightning lamp, etc.
Now read the text: Can you send out lightnings, that they may go,
And say to you, ‘Here we are!’?
In other words God challenged Job, 3500 years ago if he was able to send "lightning" or electricity as an obedient servants on an errand and return to you in an instant to report for more duties? Isn't that what happen when we finished typing an email and send it to a friend by pressing the "send" button, and our computer is ready to send another letter instantly, just in a fraction of seconds?
There are hundreds other scientific facts like those but I think this will be enough for now.

It can pique my curiosity, if they really understand what they're talking about. However, more often than not, religious folk don't have a strong grasp of science, and watching them try and talk about it is like watching a car crash.

It cant be science if the outcome has to fit into certain biblical parameters. If the answer is known before the questions and you have to bend the facts as creationist do and appeal to "Miracles" then it is an abuse of the word science!

Since im catholic I believe that science is already in the religion. You have to read in between the lines. It depends on what you believe in.
