Mineral oil works wonders. Pumpkin will not loosen up a dog's stool.

If the dog is on dry food, put him on wet food, any sudden change in a dogs diet should cause lose stool. If it does not create any stool you need to take the dog to a vet, he/she could have an intestinal blockage!!! BUT if its a puppy and the puppy is not getting enough food it causes constipation, if its a puppy just increase the amount of food you are feeding it and the stool should become normal, if not take it to the vet

this may sound a little funny, but try buying a small jar of fruit, or prunes, in the baby section and add it to their dog food. They are naturally easy to digest for babies, maybe it will work on your dog as well? I have never had this problem, but good luck!!

Give it a cheap brand of tinned dog food mixed with a couple of tins of sardines in oil (good for their skin and hair and it will go straight thru them if they havent had it before)
