i cannot find them in temp files or windows

All the downloads will be moving on to the desktop
Don't worry about that things
If u r downloading something, first of all , IE7 will intimate us , the place we want to store the file,, in that mention the desktop

If you are using xp and you are looking to go back ti IE 6 then under control panle, add or delete programs you can remove IE 7 that way.

go to my documents and then the my downloaded files folder.

they should go into:
c:\documents and settings\youraccount\local settings\temporary internet files\
